![]() | Broncos Get Outmuscled, 65-59 That Bakersfield team was just too big and too athletic tonight. You just can't give that good of a team such a huge lead and expect to come back. Why? We could find the basket in the first half. And when you're down 15 to a DI team you must shoot lights out. And we ended up shooting 37 per cent from the field and a pitiful 25 per cent from long range. Compare that to 56 and 60 for the Runners. They claimed this was an all time record of 1,716. It seemed smaller than a couple of previous games over past years to me. Anyway, the Coyotes took care of their business, so we fall to fourth place with this sad showing. And that means we gotta win big on the road where it's much tougher. |

![]() | Bake has been playing mostly a DI schedule ...and the better competition showed tonight. their team looked bigger in thickness and muscle, and they seemed to own the offensive glass. they totally dominated our boards. now we need the runners to win tomorrow night at san bernardino. since they're a DI team they can't win the conference title, and they can't go to the dance. am listening now to the bakersfield broadcast on the web. this was the first time they beat us on our floor since 2001--and probably the last time we'll see this team at kellogg gym unless we declare for DI, too. the bronco fans supported the team down to the last seconds, and the team responded. we just were too far back to stage yet another miracle finish. |

![]() | dude, are you 6-9 and 260 with great post moves and an awesome shooter's touch? if so, we need you tonight. if you can't make it tonight we have the coyote rematch (where we haven't won in almost a decade), then at humboldt (where the refs are on their payroll), and then at sonoma (the hottest team in the league and defending champions). even with a win against the eagles we easily could be 8-6 in the league and in the middle of the pack after the brutal road swing. btw, the contest was a freakin' joke. what student has ANY chance of hitting a layup, a free throw, a trey AND a half court shot in less than 25 seconds? a girl has a ZERO chance and even a semiathletic guy about .0001. at least in the last big night with the musical chairs game there was a winner for both guys and girls. in this gig everybody goes away a loser. boo. bad decision. |

![]() | well that Bs its suppose to be 30 or 35 seconds. I never seen anybody get it done under 25 seconds. I have seen it done with 35 sec. We will tonight and win atleast at San bernardino. If Bakersfield can end their streak in Kellogg. The Broncos can end there streak in San Bernardino gym. |

![]() | big win:LA plays better than their record. LA's D1 transfer vincent camper looked real good, thin bench is LA's problem I think coach thompson real have a good team real soon. thompson had a "cup of coffee" in the nba. Luis was very aggresive tonight, he can do this every-night if he wanted to. attack, attack, if nothing their kick-out to the shooters. we need to play better in the first half, 15 point comebacks are very difficult. Larry will score 20+ avg next year. good night all chris |

![]() | A Look at League Play at the Midpoint This could be the most talented league top to bottom in history. There was a time not long ago when our Broncos could count on at least three or four conference patsies. Now, perhaps there's one left in SF State. As a result, you see San Diego, Stanislaus and Dominguez doing damage all over the league. And yes Chris, you are right, now LA is proving much tougher than we would like. Our destiny still rests in our hands. I like your confidence, LAKDOD, even though I believe it will take an almost superhuman team effort to beat the 'Yotes on their floor. In order to host the tournament we almost need a sweep in the upcoming three brutal road games, an unlikely task. We should throw a party if we go 2-1. On the other hand, were we to get swept we could fall to the bottom of the regional poll. That's how crucial these upcoming roadies are, beginning with those home cookin' refs at East Gym in Arcata Thursday. Our men simply let way too many teams hang around too long, and that's a concern. Our lack of a knockout blow suggests that we likely finish third, or possibly even fourth, unless we learn to finish. If the Jacks sweep us and our travel partner they and the Yotes look tough down the stretch. Xiaoxue, I see your point about the contest. That is an almost zero chance to win and it gives absolutely no chance for the female part of the student body. I'm sure the Athletic Department reads this thread and takes the fan's observations into account when it plans future promotions. Remember, what you see is far better than what we've had until recent years. Let's give our campus time to improve, and give them credit for making this a better place. Who knows? Maybe next time around it will be you doing some crazy task for some free item! BTW, throw some props to Neon for a career night...31 for our stud. And yet another double-double for double-trouble LG. |

![]() | you guys have really started something. lakdod, pl28 is correct. i am a former player, was the last man on the end of the bench on my high school team as a player who was both slow and not very sure handed with the ball. the only thing i could do well was shoot free throws, about 85 per cent. good thing i discovered volleyball. now let's just call me a bronco fan, leave it at that, and how about we talk about bronco basketball? ![]() |

![]() | leave jay alone...... jay I love your knowledge of broncoball along as you are not a sociopath i dont care who you are . i kinda knew that you knowledge wassort of like "inside info". jay do you know anything about next years recruiting class i know d2 is not like d1 where everything can be found at scout.com. im sure coach k is looking for guards, i think we are in a great positon because our weakness is guards and not big man, d2 "bigs" are really hard to recruit beacuase lbst cal-fullerton irvine et al also looking for "big man". chris |

![]() | yes, i agree let's leave Jay alone. He has some good insights. i agree, the shooting conest was way too difficult, a bit ridiculous if you ask me. i'm not sure any of the men's team could have done that, maybe 1 or 2 of them if they got lucky. On the other hand, props to the athletic department for breaking the record for Pack the Gym Night. No need to hate and speculate on what year u think had more people but the facts, that the record number was broken. I predict the men's team goes 1-2 on this brutal road trip. lets hope they don't get swept which is a high possibility. Hope the games are webcasted so we can tune in. Go Broncos! |

![]() | chris, the big man is always elusive. we had a seven footer some years back and he was tall and that's about it. sometimes the big west will land one, like irvine did, about five years ago, but for the most part the true center is confined to either high DI or the kid is a project like the monster riverside just signed. coach k. has become successful in recruiting what coach steve wachs calls the "tweener," the player not big enough to play forward in DI but not quick or surehanded enough to play guard. that's what got us jeff bonds, david sybesma, larry gordon and donelle booker--the guys in the 6-5 to 6-7 range--among others. in each of these cases there are many, many DI coaches who would happily trade even a starter for these guys. my sense (and this is merely conjecture) is that coach has focused heavily on this type of player, given that even a 6-7 sybesma could play point and generate some serious mismatches and scoring opportunities. rashad is the real deal, just give him time to mature. but time will tell whether we next go to a DI bounceback (like mike ridgway, who was a great add) or the juco route if we need another luis pulido type fireman next year. coach bannon has his eyes on several prospects and huge props to him for landing gordon who could be an all american before he finishes. |
