I am afraid that I am not clear enough, it it that the front page isn't checking the new password set by me.

Again it has nothing to do with Academic Records Office, the country list in the BroncoDirect's database is stored as Taiwan, Province of China. Academic Records Office can't do anything to a text string stored in a database, can they?

So Dr. Berman, what brings you to these forums? For what I know, these people know a lot about computers. Would you imagine the world of students out there that don't even know how to go on the Internet? Would you imagine their frustrations at getting through a click on BRONCODIRECT?

And wasn't the testing phase supposed to take care of these problems? Why did we invest millions of dollars into this system when it's not going to serve students?

I'd like to see how much money is going into repair costs, maintenance costs, liability costs and operational costs? And how will you explain that figure to the students, and taxpayers, that are paying for it?

You don't have to reply the answers here in this forum. Just keep it in mind just in case someone else asks you that question in the future.

Was this inevitable?
The error message appears on both Firefox and Internet Explorer at Broncodirect. Yesterday was find and not today (late registration period).

Something they could add to Bronco Direct that the old system had is ... the option of search for a class withing a certain time period. I remember the old system will just let you look up a time block like 11:00am - 2:00pm MWF and it'd help you search for all the open classes within that time frame. Bronco Direct's Schedule of Classes doesn't do that.

It can do that. Have you tried the advanced search feature?

http://news.zdnet.co.uk/business/emp...9184114,00.htm

Oracle recently aquired PeopleSoft (the real name for Broncodirect), and are laying off thousands of it's employees (by mail). The future of peoplesoft and all it's products look bleak.

Looks like we will be using a new system in a few years.

hmm... iono... just because the original programmers are no longer working on the code doesn't mean the contract is going to end. It's of Oracle's nature to cater to businesses/schools data management needs. The PeopleSoft project for all the Cal States was the biggest single deal for a software of such type with an educational purpose.

If you ask me, Oracle would be crazy to dump the Cal States. Businesses are normally streamlined and competitive with how they spend money, schools however are more conservative but higher paying normally.

For $300 million (what PeopleSoft got) i'd gladly study computer science and redesign the cal state's databases. Can you even fathom how much money that is? How many salaries that could be paid... it makes me angry just to think about it

~The takeover wasn't designed to simply take over PeopleSoft. Oracle made a hostile intention to simply erase the competition. They are laying off the PeopleSoft employees because they are simply shutting down PeopleSoft altogether. By doing this, they also gain a large client base and more funds.

I'm sure Oracle will have to honor existing contracts, but will either have to switch to an Oracle powered database, or find something new.

The guy who gave the green light on broncodirect should be fire.

One of my main complaint and I know most people would agree is that u couldn't open multiple windows when using broncodirect. U can't register and see the schedule at the same time.

You go to the CLA computer lab on the 5th floor, and take two computers. You log onto Broncodirect with one (you can register on this one.), and one the second on, you sign in as a guest and view the schedule.
