![]() | ![]() The three panelists. From left to right: Dr. Bob Suzuki (President Emeritus of Cal Poly), Dr. Alice Huang (Professor of Biology at Cal Tech) and Professor Ling-chi Wang, (Professor of Ethnic Studies at UC Berkeley) (Brief Notes I've Taken) Anti-Immigrant Desperate individuals seeking opportunity in the foreign country. Who are these border crossers and what do we think about them? "Comparing Phillipino and Vietname" teaching in UCSD. Largest number of immigrant countries are 1) Mexico, 2) Phillipines and 3) El Salvador Americans went to Asia to take the wealth. Asia did not immigrate to America to take their wealth. Integration began in the homeland (Asia) and immigrants life are affected. 1) Philipine-American War 1899 Techno prison of policy - kill every people in sight. Japan - masculinity characteristic, emotion, instinct, spellbinding Rationalization - U.S. wished to drop more atomic bombs on Japan before Japan had a chance to surrender. Vietnam - the French colonized the Vietnam many years ago, to gain sovereignty but the U.S. recommended "Trustyship" rather than independence. If we don't protect them, they won't be strong enough to protect themselves from the Soviet Union. Race - ongoing tension. Phillipine students in the University of Washington had a campaign, requesting a separate category from the Asian-American category. It is now classified as Pacific Islander. "Indiphinos" - intermarriage between Native Americans and Phillipines. PCN - Phillipine Cultural Nights in the month of May. Mono-Minority: term used to categorize asian-americans. Wealthy and powerful asians. Ideas of women living in bi-culturally. 2nd generation of Philipines share their experience with their parents regarding dating. Think about why sexuality is an important play for the immigrant parents. Quote and quote: Philipine girls are more pure while white girls are active in sexual practive. Member of a Seattle local community are mysteriously missing, deported back to Phillipine without any justice, warrant and a reason. ![]() ![]() They were aiming goody bags at your head. ![]()
