The following is an upcoming student event at Cal Poly Pomona sponsored by Associated Students, Inc.:


MEISA Western Regional Conference
Music & Entertainment Industry Student Association, Cal Poly Pomona

On Saturday, November 20, Cal Poly Pomona will host the 2004 MEISA Western Regional Conference in the Ursa Major Suite of the Bronco Student Center. This one-day conference is designed to bring together educators, students, music professionals, and musicians in a mass exchange of opinions and ideas. Panel discussion topics include Entrepreneurship in the Music Industry, A&R Today, and Changing Music Business Models. Speakers include music industry professionals such as Derek Sivers, Founder of CdBaby.com, Melinda Newman, West Coast Bureau Chief for Billboard Magazine, Kevin Lyman, Founder of Warped Tour, and many others. A few other events of the day include a viewing and discussion of the Mark Johnson documentary, Playing For Change, and a keynote address on networking and careers in the music industry from Dan Kimpel, DKM Management.

Registration is $10 for MEISA members and $30 for non-members. The registration fee includes a full year of membership in MEISA, conference materials, and admission to all conference panel discussions and additional workshops.
