About dropping a class

I was wondering, if I drop a class right now, then how does it show up on my transcript? Does it just show as a W? My friend told me it shows up as a WF or something like that? I'm not doing so well in a class right now and I'm debating whether or not I should drop it. Is a W worse than an F?

You cannot drop the class because the quarter is almost over. Just complete the class. If you drop now, I think the professor may give you an "I" or incomplete, which is equivilent to an "F." A "W" is only received as a grade when a student drops a class after the add drop/period. It is not as bad as an "F". It only means that you officially withdrew from the class after the fact. Hang in there the quarter is almost over.

Both grades will be counted in your GPA unless you file a course repeat form. which can be found in the records office. Once you file for a course repeat form, only the second grade will count in your GPA with the indication that you repeated the class.
Be careful not to repeat too many courses because the rule of thumb is 16 units. This means that you can repeat up to four courses and get a grade replacement for each course you repeated. After that, you can no longer replace grades. So if you used all of your 16 units and wanted to repeat another class, you could repeat the class as many times as you like, however you cannot file for a grade replacement. In that case, the grade you received each time you repeated the class would be calculated into your overall GPA.
