![]() | Hello everyone, I am a student at Cal Poly. I moved here from Texas, so I hope that I don't sound too much like a lame out-of-stater by asking this, but I have an odd question. I found this place by typing in cal poly in google...a little after calpoly.edu I found calpolyforums, but after reading these posts I get the impresssion that there is another school called Cal Poly...down in Pomona? Am I correct in asking that? Thanks for your responses! ![]() -Steve |

![]() | Welcome to the Cal Poly Forums. I have created your thread, out from the thread you have posted in. You are correct. There are two California State Polytechnic Universities - Cal Poly Pomona and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. The forums is available for BOTH Pomona and San Luis Obispo students. We can chat and the two campuses can network! I always wanted to know what the SLO students are doing up there.

![]() | Gosh, I never knew that there was another CPSU. How neat. What's it like down in Pomona? I love it up here in SLO; It has been my dream to attend Cal Poly since I was 12, and I must say that it is everything that I have ever hoped for. However, I wish I knew that there was another Cal Poly years ago; I got rejected by Cal Poly 3 times before I got accepted. My GPA was a 3.94. I think the fact that I was out-of-state hurt my app? I'm not sure. Anyway, I wish that I knew that there was another Cal Poly back then, I would have applied to both! ![]() |

Nice! You would have got accepted in Cal Poly Pomona on your first try, I can assure you. It was interesting when you mentioned that you wanted to attend Cal Poly when you were 12. When I was 12, going to college was not on the top to-do list. Congrats on your acceptance to SLO and your GPA really shows your achievement in high school.

![]() | Do you enjoy living in Pomona? -> Pomona is near L.A., if I am not mistaken. Must be kind of nice living in the big city! Yeah, I know that 12 is a bit young for wanting to go to college; my parents are professors, so there was always a lot of academic pressure (in a good way!) around the house. Overall, I am pretty excited to be here. We had Poly Royal over the weekend up here; you should have seen it. I have never in my life seen so many people in SLO. How was it down there? Oh hey by the way, what do you study? |

Having a parent as a professor would be a ticket to a higher education. Damn lucky you!
