Like what difference would it make for the school if Cal Poly doesn't accept new students for one quarter.

I think this is a generalization. I haven't seen any Indians (even Muslims) pray in public, mainly because not all Indians are Muslims (since you mentioned praying to Allah)... in fact, many at Cal Poly are not. Maybe you are confusing Indians with the Middle Eastern students? It doesn't bother me if they pray in public. To me, it's just like others smoking in public or preach christianity (some guy from Christian club read me a whole little book when I was studying for a test between classes).

But I do agree with you about the Israeli wall issue. It's more like a political issue and should be kept out of the campus (or all educational institutes).

My old college roomate was a Muslim from the middle eastern. He was very cool and he prayed every single day in the dorm room. I didn't mind at all.

BTW, the little booklet, was it yellow? How was it when he/she was reading it to you?

I guy read a little book to me too, during Spring quarter, while I was on the quad waiting between classes. It had like pictures and stuff in it and talked about Jesus... I was like, um, I'm jewish... but he insisted, so I just let him read the book, and told him a little bit about judaism, at his request... but it made me feel really uncomfortable..
And I haven't seen anyone praying at school... but that's cool if they do... I'll respect anyone who respects me...

Yeah, I think it was yellow. What do you mean by how was it - How I felt/what I thought about it?

I've done that before, where I go around on campus and share the little booklet.
I just wanted to know whether the student is comfortable when a student approaches you and wants to share a biblical message.

I didn't really feel comfortable. It is sick that someone is trying to say don't believe in your faith, believe in Jesus! The booklate was only trying to say that I am a bad person because I am not christian, just in nicer words. Oh well...

I don't think the person who approaches you are trying to say that "your" religion is wrong.
I think it is "sharing" their belief and their religion. When I did it, I wanted to "introduce" the religion to others because 1) some students may not know about christianity, 2) some students may want to learn more, and 3)they are christians but didn't know a christian club existed on campus.

I agree that people with different belief may get offended but I wouldn't know that. If they are uncomfortable and replies, "I'm not interested," I would simply reply, "thank you for your time" and walk away.

I haven't done this yet on campus but my friend did. Usually, students either listens throughout or respond with "I'm busy." No problem.

That could be a biased opinion though. Conduct a survey of students who practice a different religion, and see what they have to say about it. I am sure most of them would prefer not to be approached ever again.

Agree. Can't argue with that.

when i preach, yeah, i hear MANY ppl w/ the same xcuses.. "im on the phone" or "im busy" or "im eating right now" or "my baby kid is in the shower" or "my mom or dad aren't here right now (what did u say mom? i can't hear u) " "im not interested" "no thanks" "SLAMS THE DOOR!!"

but i have also had sucesses too. I shouldn't, wouldn't, and wont let bad experiences discourage me from doing what Mat 24:14 says. U think EVERY PERSON that jesus preached to WANTED to listen and was open to his teachings??!? no way! but that didn't stop him.

i do however respect a person's wish. When mormons come 2 my door, i listen 2 what they have 2 say respectfully, and say thank you, and they leave... becuz i wouldn't want ppl 2 be mean, moody, and rude 2 me, so y should i do the same 2 them?

Congrats Knox34. Are you dorming? If yes, apply fast since it feels up rather quickly. Attend the welcome week program and they allow you to register your classes before other new freshmen students.
You'll do great man!
edit: Transfer student eh. You probably know how to survive college.

I don't think MIRC (the chatting program, right?) is restricted. However, they might check for excessive bandwidth usage (P2P sharing).

There was a member here on the forums that was seeking temporary resident during the summer (try searching). Maybe you can contact him and see if there is a space available for the fall quarter.
