Hello All

Just joined these forums, from what I have seen so far they look pretty informative. I'll be starting my first quarter at Cal Poly Pomona this Fall as a Technical Theatre and Design Major and looking forward to meeting some new people.

By the way does anyone have any tips or suggestions for an incoming freshman?

-Eric

Welcome to the forum Eric.
From the top of my head -> Take maximum 12 units on your first quarter. Don't slack off. If you fail your first quarter, don't worry as more than 50% of the incoming students fail.
Are you staying in the dormitory?
If you have any questions, feel free to post.

cool...why not take 3 more units (like a blow-off GE class)? if you do that you can do the 4-year pledge...priority registration!

No, you're fine with 12 units. I knew a lot of dumbos that ended up dropping out of college because they slacked off too much on top of their 18-unit schedule. Don't try to prove anything to anyone. Just keep it cool for the first couple of quarters until you find your groove.

One tip: don't worry about making friends quickly. more than likely by the end of your first year you probably won't be talking to them anymore. You'll meet plenty of girls here, so don't worry about that either.

Find out who your advisor is and get to know him or her. They are there to help you and will try to answer your questions as best as possible.
