I did my undergrad in CS, you are in for one wild ride! Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get your programs done, I -never- did, and certainly paid the price with plenty of all nighters. ![]() | |

I'm not entirely sure why he teaches this class (he's the only one who teaches it throughout the year) but I've heard he's much nicer in all his other classes...and makes fun of how he treats the CS 130 students...

I'm just saying he can be exacerbating to some students. Discrete structures isn't exactly a very easy to digest for many, especially as the first CS class most people take, and his general attitude towards the class wasn't encouraging.

![]() | Welcome... here's my CS experience so far Welcome -- good times here at cal poly. These are some of the key professors I have taken so far.. and yes, welcome to the best 8 years of your life! One of the best things is that our enrollment in CS is down so far you can almost wait until after registration is over to register and still get the classes you want. Laszlo (CS408): Median on the midterm was a 0 out of 50, upper quartile was something like an 8. He also said he reserves the Fs for people with 0s all quarter long -- which by the way isn't that rare to find. Overall I feel like he knows his stuff and he's probably a genius, but he likes to play games with you all quarter. Other professors covered more material than our class, but I did learn ML pretty well all things considered. Learned a bit about other languages but never was really tested on them. Funny thing is he hates Java.... Salloum (CS241): Watch out for his creative scheduling where he will have you come to class on a weekend to take tests. He "asks" if it's okay... but it's not like second quarter data structures should require more than 18 2 hour meetings. Liu (CS420): You can't slack off in his class or you will fail. His programs and exams were reasonable, but the exams were the type where there'd be 4 main questions and if you missed a single concept you'd be hurting quickly on the exam grade. Resonable timelines and grading. Eller (CS130): I had just taken a formal logic class the quarter before (got an A) and knew the material cold. He didn't. I passed anyway, but know the material well so you can call him on it when necessary. |
