Isn't SAT also required for all resident/non-resident student?
3.1 GPA sounds low compared to what other members had (3.8+) and they still got rejected to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Grade is more important than AP course so don't overwhelm yourself with excessive AP classes. But 5 AP course is not impossible, I guess.

hi xxoro...I'm hoping to get into Cal Poly SLO too! Best of luck to you. My friend andy got accepted into SLO for architecture for Fall 2004 and his GPA was 4.12 (weighted) and 3.97 (unweighted).

you'll probably get into CP SLO since you are a Int'l student...that way the college gets more tuition out of you...but don't take my word...i just feel this may be an unwritten rule...

*I only know this because I am totally hoping to get into Cal Poly myself* Cal Poly doesnt care if you are international. It's all point based. They have an actual formula that they put you against that makes a number. Then they take the number of seats available and fill them according to the highest numbers. I read online that something like 27,000 people competed for the 3,200 spots available at the school. I wanna go to CP...

Pomona vs. SLO

If you have a high GPA (over 3.3) and high SAT scores, you have an okay chance of getting into both. Right now, though, Pomona is the tougher one to get into. Try to keep your grades up and do well on the SATs!

yea...i am an international student...the school is just 'american based.' Thanks people for your advice...does anyone know if taking AP drawing and print, and then submitting an AP portfolio improves my chances of getting in? oh also...how come pomona is better for architecture...i thought SLO was....

Cal Poly Pomona admission department do not ask for student's portfolio, only GPA and SAT score on the application. On the other hand, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo do ask for student's accomplishments (portfolios for art/architecture, etc.) from what I hear.
Landscape Architecture is a popular major at Cal Poly Pomona but not which college is more renowned as to the major goes.

poly, slo is top in the nation for undergraduate, public. or so they tell us...

i just transferred into architecture from architectural engineering. the switch took me two years to accomplish, but i finally did it.

i was originally accepted as arce, early decision. my gpa was 3.9, weighted. i had sats of 1300 total.

poly loves extracurriculars. rock those. rock them hard. rock them often.

random questions

So what if I apply, but I already have my bs/ms in civil engineering?
How will I be judged for admission, considering that SAT's have changed considerably in the past decade? Back in the day I used to be a good student. It would be great if could still use those stats.

Why are you guys choosing architecture? How do you know that it's the thing for you?

I've read some of the other posts, and yeah...short of getting into Harward,
Cal Poly SLO is the BEST school to attend for architecture. I wanted to go there when I was in high school, I still want to go now. Cornell and Rice were also in the top ten list I saw of "top architecture schools as rated by people in the field."
