Hey all

Hey, this is Voytek. I'm a freshman at CPP majoring in CpE (Computer Engineering). My life revolves around computers, I'm a member of several computer enthusiast forums and groups. I'm not a nerd though, at least that's what others have said about me, I consider myself an 1337 g33k .

Well, you know everything about me now,

take care

Hey, are you taking any honors courses and/or planning on doing so soon?

Welcome to the forums Voytek (username, right?).
Are you more into software or hardware?

Voytek is actually my name, fits my personality perfectly, doesn't it

I'm primarily a hardware freak, have loads of that stuff on my walls. I also find interest in old software from the 80's and prior. As far as programming goes I know the basics: HTML, TI-86 BASIC, and some Java.

Oh cool, how's that theatre class, is it a lot of work? Or more fun than work? I met the teacher of the class at a program meeting once and he sounded really cool and enthusiastic...
I was goint to take the Econ 201, but I'm already taking way too many classes, so I gave my spot to Sreus, a guy in my Sta 120 honors class this quarter... (useless info, but oh well)...
hope you voted for the student advisory board (i'm running for a position, yeaayy :P)

Sweet, you got your 1700 XP to 1947MHz? Isn't that like a 2500+? What are your temps on it? What OS you running?

I'm still running my rig at 1.2GHz (old skool T-bird ). I'd o/c it but I've already got 7 fans in it and still can't get it running below 50*C....the T-birdies are known to be hot little buggers. I dual boot to Mandrake 9.2 and Windows 98se depending on what I feel like each day...

System Specs:

1.2GHz T-bird @ 1.2
384MB PC 133 RAM (I'd get the DDR2100 since my board supports both, but I'm saving my money for a powerbook)
crappy ATI Xpert 128 w/ 16mb ram.....won't even do hardware acceleration in linux
IBM 60gxp deskstar (deathstar) 40GB @ 7200RPM
Lite-on 16x10x40x and a lite-on 52x cd-rom
All cooled by 7 fans; 3 hard drive fans, 1 side fan, 2 back fans, and a Volcano II. (The noise is killing me)

As far as SATA goes, I haven't been much updated on that, and last time I checked (6+ months ago), tom's hardware ran the benchmarks of SATA vs. ATA133 and there was no visible benefit of running SATA, but that probably changed already.

i can actually get it up to 2.4Ghz stable... A FULL GHz of OC!! , but i dont want the cpu to die out on me w/in 2 yrs... i want it 2 last a lil longer cuz i never keep a pc for more than 4 yrs.

DEAR LORD!! 7 FANS?!?! whats the db level on that bad boy
my 92mm tornado drives me nuts!!! but thats the price i pay for an xtra GHz of OC memory hehe

when is your next upgrade?!?!

i hate tomshardware... they are sooo corrupt. i use www.storagereview.com for hard drive reviews.

my next upgrade??? hmmm...probably no sooner than two more years away or so

oh, the avatar...hehe. At another forum I visit I made a really whacky halloween avatar after having Beverley Mitchell (drool) as my av for a while, and peepz loved it, so I transformed it into a santa av to fit the Christmas season
