![]() | Hey. Hello to anyone who glances at this. I'm a high school senior that has been accepted to CPP for Fall '05, and I honestly have little idea of what the school is like. I'm slated to be a Mechanical Engineering major, which I hold a lot of interest in. I normally shy away from forums and whatnot, but you guys seem like a really friendly bunch, so I figured I'd give this a try. If I have any questions in the future, I guess that this would be a great place to start; I'll try not to ask the questions that have been asked countless times before. Thanks, everyone; I'd be extremely appreciative of any future assistance, and I'll do my best to be a productive member of the forums. Later, guys. |

![]() | Congratulations on your acceptance. Based on your post, you sound like you know what exactly you want to get out of your higher education. When I first entered Cal Poly Pomona, I was undecided on my major and pretty much lost. Sinesurfer, don't hesitate to ask your questions away. I'm thankful for all the members that takes their time to answer questions. |

Edit- Yeah, iKwak, I've spent a lot of time (maybe too much time) thinking about majors. Like lots of people, I guess I'm polarized to the math/science way of thinking, seeing as I'm somewhat mediocre at everything else. Pretty much, engineering offers the greatest outlet by which I can use math for practical purposes; that, and there's generally a decent demand for engineers in the workforce. Hopefully, Pomona will make good on the "Polytechnic" moniker and give me a more practical-applications-oriented education; do you notice the "polytechnic difference" at CPP as opposed to other universities? Once again, I'm getting ahead of myself, but thanks a million for the responses thus far; I really do appreciate the support. | |

![]() | Excellent. You are ahead of the herd. I definitely noticed the polytechnic difference at Cal Poly Pomona and I love it. I been applying and doing the things that I've learned. Quote:

![]() | Whoah, I got a reply to this thread; I forgot about it entirely due to the crazy testing schedule I've lived through lately. Thanks for the replies. And Scannergeek: I actually have an important question regarding that stuff, though I guess I should post it in the Network forum. I know that, at any academic institution, there are bound to be professors that, well, aren't so hot: does Cal Poly have a lot of them? In any particular major, at that? I'll repost that in the Network in a few minutes. |
