Witnessing a Car Accident

Few seconds before I exited the highway, I witnessed a live car accident.
The wheels must have spunned as the old generation Corolla collided head first to a commercial 3-ton truck (those transportation truck).
The car collided and its front section of the car was totaled while it did no damage to the truck. Good thing everyone was safe. The driver was a female and the passenger was a male and his face impression was .
Saw this accident within 10 seconds on the 605 freeway.

Drive safe everyone.

Drive safely everyone! Hydroplaning is not all that fun on the freeway...

I just learned that if your tire is low on thread (around 25% or lower), the drive during the rain can be very scary.

Anyways, free car wash for everybody.

I've witness a live accident also up ahead of me. It was an Acura RSX in the fast lane and it collided with an economic size car, both hitting the freeway divider. Both car was totaled up. I got off th exit immediately before the firefighters arrived. Scary.

I think he means is the thread for the tires. When you buy a new tire, it has a lot of thread on it, the black rubber. Low on thread would mean less rubber on the tire, which can lead to baldness of the tire.
Right?

You're correct. One of the tire has little amount of rubber left on the wheel. When I was driving last night during the heavy rain, the car didn't have a good grip while changing lanes on the highway.

omg, scary stuff. I hate driving on rainy and windy days. My car is a light, economic, Japanese car. It slides when it's too windy.

Be sure to stick on the right lane at all times during heavy rain and drive at a much reduced speed. Let all cars pass by you.

Its tire tread not thread. It allows the water to come out from under the tire letting it contact the ground and preventing hydroplaning. Less tread means a narrower channel for less water to go through and an increase in the chance of hydroplaning at lower speeds.

Tire pressure is also important, a properly inflated tire holds its intended shape and will also help channel water from under the tire and cut through the water. Whens the last time you guys checked your cars tire pressure?

All you have to do is slow down during the rain. Especially all those that have "racing" or "hi performance" tires on their car. They are designed for dry grip not wet traction.

A quick test of if you need new tires is to use a penny, stick it in between the tire tread with lincolns head facing down. If you can see the top of his head, its time to get a new set of tires.

Good tip. I need to get in the habit of checking the tire pressure.
Good thing that the dealers does it for you if you take your car in for the service.

Unless you found a dealer with a good service dept. I wouldnt completly trust them.

You should check air pressure once a month, low tire pressure also leads to excessive tire wear and poor gas milage.

I know American Tires do a good job checking your tires and better yet, it's FREE!
