Did I mention Mike, someone will always give you THEIR opinon on what YOU should have? I really don't understand why people often feel the need to do such. I use both ATI and Nvidia, both work about as well. I'm very glad they are in such competition, because consumers everywhere benefit. Not often do you have two companies fighting for your purchase very much. Well... Intel and AMD are slightly different.

Anyhow, to back up my claim of Nvidia working to optimize specifically for Nvidia card. Check out this link to increase your speed of DOOM 3 on ATI cards, all it is is a math calculation that cards do to textures.

I tried it myself, it works, and definately closes most of the gap there was. I've seen reports of Half-Life 2 being horrible for 50% faster on ATI cards, instead of Nvidia. Both sides are dirty, but to just deny it is silly and leaves yourself up to making the wrong decisions.

As far as I'm concerned, Nvidia used to be the top dog, ATI was quite the underdog a few years ago; but Nvidia is on their tail or caught up. It's really too close to call. They are very very close on raw speed. Last I heard ATI was beating Nvidia on Image Quality, but Nvidias latest drivers are supposed to fix that... but I haven't seen comparable screenshots since.

I think NVDIA is more widely used and recommended for most games. But then again, that's just coming from a guy who switched from PC to Mac. Powerbooks have ATI.

Does it look good so far? The total would cost me just below $400 at newegg. Can't wait to get back on online games.
Go with a brand New Dell. Just my thought.. goto www.Dell.com and you can get some of their most up to date computers with a pertty penny but well worth every dollor but since its Video games.. go with AlienWere (or its AlienWear.. I can't remember the correct name for it) anyway.. I've had one of those when I used to play alot of online video games (basicly at the time of MOA was the big thing and sorta still is) and I had a great online gaming experience. So thats just my thought for the whole idea of the new PC. However.. by what I Currently have (Muh Dell!) its great for all general useage all around. When it comes to getting a new or used PC.. for about 500-700. Its worth the penny to buy a used one from dell ( had a used one a dn new one. both worked just great) and its worth the money for video games. Make sure to get windowz XP professional. Thats a great add on. Professional will allow you to download the game onto your computer without never having to use the CD ever again. Not alone does it pervent online lag from your computer.. but the game play and speed is over all great with it.

Yours Truly

General rule:
High end computer - build your own
Low end computer - Get Dell or whatever cause it's cheaper
