Stereotypes

How many of you guys are annoyed by it? I personally find it funny, esp. when it comes from comedians

This is a tough questions. A lot of stereotypes are SO true. And yes, there are some that are hurtful. I guess we just have to be careful if we use them to be tactful.

You wanna talk about stereotyping?

It's kind of a touchy subject for some people, but if you want you can stereotype me. I don't care.

Don't be so hard on him. I think he's trying to impress someone.

I'm impressed by people who defy stereotypes and labels. They do their own thing regardless of what people say. They don't try to label and pidgeon-hole everyone else. Stereotypes are promoted by those who are too wrapped up in themselves to figure out anyone else's individuality.

if stereotypes WEREN'T TRUE, they wouldn't exist. I dont recall the last "negro" listening 2 some country, or an asian dancing to some salsa, or an arab learning to cook some thai, or a white girl having a red dot on her head (which is nothing religious for arabs btw).... and if any of you say "OH BUT I KNOW THIS 1 PERSON THAT DOES"... that is just ONE PERSON... if they were THAT COMMON, then A NEW STEREOTYPE would emerge.

Stereotypes are basically factual observations of a given population. This population, however, is limited in breadth. These observations consequently hold true for the sample, but not neccessarily for the whole. Given that humans tend to you use their environment as sort of like inherent background information on a particular matter, stereotypes are consequently extrapolated to represent whole racial groups, in which case elements of racism are present. While stereotypes are certainly amusing, they can also be very malevolent. So exersize caution when dealing with sensitive people. gj43nmfnsagjnm,a,

Heh, if you're going to insist on promoting stereotypes, at least get them right.

Red dots are indian. It is religious. Socially it generally indicates married. Most commonly used now a day for only decorative purposes. I can make up something about a group of people, it doesnt make it true about every individual in that particular group on a larger scale, even if it is based on what I have observed. In India, western culture is becoming heavily popular. Thats true for a lot of other asian countries. I suggest you go travel and explore the world.
