Skateboarding

Hi, I'm new to this forum. I'm a first-year in CS.
I want to learn how to skate but dont know where to start. Could anyone here help me choose a board and teach me some basics?
I live in the dorm (Palmitas) so finding a appropriate place for practicing turned out to be a bit difficult.
Oh i forgot to say that I'm an international student, so I'm not quite used to things here in US.

Do you have a board already? If yes, practice, practice, and more practice.
Do you want to improve? Get yourself a knee pad and elbow pad and helmet (option but recommended

) and imitate skaters you see on television.

That's what I would do if I wanted to learn.
