Runaway Car Suspects

I find very ridiculous when there is a breaking news that is about a runaway vehicle.

The entire police department board members should start using new gadgets and strategies to put a stop immediately on that runaway vehicle. Not only is police vehicles chasing it, helicopters are chasing it and news reporters.

Residents and other vehicles are in danger when there is a high speed chase.
Rather than chasing the vehicle, why can't they shoot the tires or the car itself. Better to take one person down than two.

Why don't the cop just shoot or pop the tires. Get it over with, instead of creating a damn traffic.
And what kind of a baffoon would run away in the first place.

Well, shooting the tires COULD cause the following:

1) Car loses control and maybe kills innocent people. Even if they shoot the tires in a safe zone, he can still drive and lose control in a more populated area.

2) They don't want him to get hurt either.

3) They want the excitement? Chases usually allow the suspect to break more laws, making his sentence even longer.

The Police dept is trying to get a hold of new technology. Particularly one that shuts off the car with a remote control. Has anyone seen the device? It's pretty safe, unless your brakes depend on engine power.

I saw that technology like a year ago.
Don't know why the police department did not start using the technology. It is like a device where it shuts the car off immediately. Quite neat. Want to get a hold of one of those.
