![]() | All-Nighters! I bet most of us have done an all-nighter before. I did an all-nighter last night and I got my support by drinking Bacchus energy drink and a KMX energy drink. I was fully awake throughout the morning. But when the effect from the energy drinks was emptied, I was delirious and stressed at the same time. ![]() I was talking to a colleague about a campus club (PHIRA) but I don't quite remember what I mumbled to her. And in worst case, I couldn't stop yawning and stay focus in all my classes. What are you strategies to keep you awake until the morning class? And what do you do during the day to stay alert while driving or on campus? Share your experiences and tips.

| Fire-breather | I've never pulled an all-nighter, but I almost did once. I had to stay up to 4am to finish a group project. All projects where only *I* am responsible I always finished on time with plenty of sleep time. But sometimes you just get stuck with a bad group and have to deal with it. Anyway, the 3 hours of sleep I got helped a LOT to keep me focused. So what these guys are saying about quick naps, listen to them. If you don't live on campus you can probably camp out in your car. Parking lots tend to be fairly quiet anyway. |

And do you guys take quick naps where and when on campus? Is a bit hard to take naps anywhere on campus. Would be nice to have a "nap room" for tired students to get some time of rest.

| Fire-breather | Yeah it is pretty tough to find a place to nap on campus, especially if you don't have a car or dorm room access. I recall that all the dorms have a "study room" on each floor that is usually empty during the day. Maybe you could sneak in and be that "mystery napper" that everyone in the dorm talks about, hehe. Or how about the library? Maybe there is an isolated desk somewhere where you can just put your head on the books and doze awhile? |

![]() | One time, I took a nice long nap in the library. I walked over to the restroom after I woke up and noticed a huge red mark in the center of my forehead. Funny to walk around the campus like that. The dorm is quite a walk from the class buildings and you would need to be a resident or have a buddy open the front door..and that takes lot of energy for a quick nap. There are two long (two-seater) sofas in the 2nd floor of the bronco student center. I use to take comfortable naps during summer since I was able to actually lay down sideaways in an awkward position and take long naps. Hope no one uses those in the fall quarter. I should reserve those sofas during certain hours. Haha

| Newcomer | i pull all nighters all the time. the trick is not lots of caffiene, as that will make you crash after the effects wear off, and when you are really really tired, it doesnt take long. what you have to do is just keep yourself occupied mentally and physically. dont think about sleep, do not let it enter your mind, when you start thinking about it, just push it out, and dont go on your computer for long or you will fall asleep on the keyboard |

| GCP.com Admin | Heh heh... in my apartment I got a soda fountain that can spit out 60 gallons of soda when fully stocked. That amount of sugar and caffeine... well... I also found otter pops to be a quick boost too! I recommend soda fountains if you do lots of overnighters!! |

| GCP.com Admin | But seriously, I recommend lots of pasta and breads, and sandwiches, and CARBOHYDRATES. Although Atkins would hate you for killing his business, carbs take a long time for your body to break down so they provide their energy over a long period of time and really keep you going. |

![]() | I almost got into a car accident once!! I had a cup of soda right before I left and I thought it would do the trick to keep me awake from the allnighter. In the freeway I once fell asleep for like 5 to 10 seconds while driving. Managed to open up my eyes and I was in the right lane from the 2nd left lane. The only reason why I was lucky because only a few cars were near me. Don't try it if you have never done it before. |

| Newcomer | all nighters... i've had much experience to all nighters. I tend to eat a lot more when I pull all nighters. I stock up on Rockstars (or Red Bull), and keep active while working on my projects. Last year most of the time i had to pull a few all nighters... definately over 48 hours of no sleep. It's like I didn't have time to sleep. I might take the time to take a small snoozer in my studio lab but most of the time i had to try and keep my sanity by listening to hours and hours of music, standing around and not sitting down, and keeping cold air flow in my room going. If not i'd knock out. I'm so glad i haven't pulled an all nighter at all this year... not yet. |
