How much u pay 4 rent?

I'm moving down to San Luis soon. Would like to get a general idea of what people are paying(include # of roommates, distance from campus, etc). Also looking for a cheap place if you know of one. How is public transportation and bike lanes? Thanks.

I live in a studio apartment at Mustang Village. It's across the street from school, 0 roommates (just me), and it is furnished with a couch, kitchen table, fridge, bed, coffee table, desk, two wardrobes, two dressers, and a microwave. Trash and water are included, but everything else you are on your own for. My rent is $645 per month. On the negative side, however, parking here is somewhat limited and it costs $300 per year for a parking permit. And God help you if your friends want to come over; they have to buy a $5 guest parking permit, or park down the street and hike to your apartment.
Overall, I'd say it's a nice place to live in terms of being a student. We have on site laundry facilities, a gym, a convenience store, a Woodstock's pizza, a pool, computer lab, study rooms, and a community big screen TV. There are occasional parties and what not too.
Public transportation is pretty good. If you have your Cal Poly ID you can ride the bus for free. Bike lanes and fine too; the whole town is pretty small and pedestrian oriented; most everyone just walks or bikes here (Be careful though, some punks stole my bike recently).

Edit: Bah... I always forget this board is for TWO campuses. One day I will catch on. My apartment details are about Cal Poly Pomona.
I live over in Montelena apartments about 2 miles from campus. It's a pretty big complex that has studios, 1 bedrooms, and 2 bedrooms. I got a 2 bedroom which is about 840 square feet, unfurnished it is $1250 a month... split 3 ways its not so bad; quite a bit of space. (I think the 1 bedrooms are $950, and studios are $750.)

It's a nice gated area, some crime, not so bad for Pomona though. Quite good gardening/trees. I'd recommend it others, quite a lot of Cal Poly students are there. If you're in the area, 2249 Room 202, stop by for some air hockey and soda from my soda fountain

The management is pretty bad, they feel like a mother that comes to visit every once in awhile and tells you to do something, or not to do something... just to control your life but rarely helps it like a real mother would. I once got a 3 day notice to remove my sofa from my porch. They tow cars like crazy even though there's lots of parking now that they're limiting 2 cars per apartment. They even have the nerve to tow your car if the registration is expired they wrote us a letter.... how nice!!

We have security, but the only time i saw them they were checking parking decals... i saw them... two of them! in the dark! with one flashlight! checking parking decals.... why do we need 2 security officers checking parking decals together? Anyhow... good
times.

For those that are not receiving financial aids, how do you afford your rent fees?
Do you work on or off campus or does your parent provide?

Full ride on the parents tab. Although, I was working at Fry's Electronics once upon a time... as a salesperson earning $18 an hour. Sales people are encouraged to do way too much spinning... I felt like a politian, so I quit... and still got spending money saved.

Thought for the day: Isn't it odd how so many actors are good politicians? or is it that politicians are good actors?
