Michelin Tires or Others?

I need to replace both of the front tires soon and I received a quote at Costco Tire Center, each tire coming up to $150!

The tire itself is $137 and the extra fees is for the wheel mounting and other handling charges. The brand of the tire is Michelin so I know it is a dependable brand.

1) Are these tires worth forking out $150 each or are there other brands that is equal (or close enough) to what Michelin tires can do? I know I get what I pay for but I don't mind sacrificing performance or wet traction for durability.
I am not looking for performance but more of durability that will last me for many years.

2) And are tire insurance worth the investment?

Tires these days are very realiable and durable. If not, they would'nt be out in the market. Try the Sears auto center.

Go to wally world or one of those tire places. If you order tires online wallmart mounts and balances them for 7 something a tire.

Unless you need the tire for a specific application such as road racing or off roading. Any tire from any maker will do, they all have to meet minimum DOT standards.

Best bet is an all season tire for a good combination of wet/dry traction and durability.

The difference between a 15 inch tire and a 16 inch tire is far apart from each other. I had to stick with a low-price rubber, Kumho. Still in great shape.
Imagine how much you would pay for a 19 inch tires.

P205 / 60R16 91 V
Kind that will last me long on normal drive condition (no burn-outs and hard braking).

If anyone can find some good price (link to) for 2 tires, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

www.tirerack.com I got some kuhmo HP4? for about $45 per tire. Just take them to costco and they can mount and balance for you. As far as the tire insurace, if you get a nail in your tire they will patch it up. If you damage them in a way that they are unrepairable they will replace it.

Michelin tires are top of the line if I remember correctly. BFGoodrich is next on the line.

The Good Year store sells tires that are identical to (and manufactured by) Good Year, just without the brand name. Mine were significantly cheaper than comparable brand name good years.

Yeah, Im running 19's. Going to and from school is less than 15 miles total so I can't really complain. If I lived 25-50 miles from school, I probably would put the stock 16's on. =)

If a car comes with a 15 inch rims from the factory and the consumer changes his set of rims with a 19 inch, would the change affect the mileage the car accumulates?

And vice versa, factory 19 inch changed to a set of 15 inch rims.
