For how long can you use Intuit Quickbooks software?

Do you need to upgrade the Intuit Quickbooks software every year or can you purchase, let's say Quickbooks Pro 2004 and use if it for the next 2 to 3 years?

Kellie says, You are not required to upgrade every year. We do support up to 2 previous versions as well as the current version
