Presidential dissapointments aside, are people satisfied with the way the propositions turned out? I think I am, with the exception of Prop 64 "Limit on Private Enforcement of Unfair Business Competition Laws". This limits the ability of little guys to sue the likes of Walmart for unfair business practices. Oh well. At least there's no new tax on my phone bill!

I liked them all. Did i read wrong on that law? I thought it meant that lawyers couldn't decide to sue without a victim kind of a thing. If it's out to prevent walmart from being sued by people... or a union, then I was misinformed. I voted yes on it to try and curb multi-million vigilante lawyers.

Since I don't watch TV (I Tivo my favorite shows and skip all the commercials) I didn't hear all the propoganda surrounding any of the props. My conclusion came from reading the proposition and reading the for and against arguments. Whether my conclusion is correct or not... I dunno! I voted no because I figured it would be pretty easy for large corporations to disprove any injury that a small business may have suffered. And what small business would be able to afford a multi-million dollar lawyer?

The cost you claim of $6 billion is off by 100% of the actual cost. The cost is $3 billion over 10 years. I'm glad that the propsition passed. Hopefully it will make up for the limits that Bush has put in place on federally funded stem cell research.

Aye. stem cell ressearch is good.

Some of these loans are bullshit though. So check this out... $3 Billion dollars over 10 years will be used for stem cell research, that's $300 million over 10 years. But... we're taking out $6 billion in loans/bonds which is 50% interest, and 50% principle... so... $3 billion in interest California is paying off. So... we're paying $200 million a year for 30 years, instead of just forking up the $300 Million a year for 10 years? Their logic drives me up the wall sometimes.

Wow that certainly is confusing. The number I posted was taken directly out of the booklet sent out to everyone that summarized all the propositions. Math has never been my strong suit so I was not about to analyze the breakdown of the actual costs.

My mistake. I took a look at the booklet. I forgot about interest.
