Kobe was not very far away from breaking the NBA most score in a single game record.
Wilt Chamberlain scored 78 points against Los Angeles in three overtimes (Dec. 8, 1961). (Source: http://www.hoophall.com/halloffamers/Chamberlain.htm]

That game was unbelievable Kobe had 62 pts and Mavs had 61 at the end of the 3rd quarter. Imagine if Kobe played the 4th quarter.

What was Phil Jackson's reason for not letting Kobe play on the 4th quarter?

They were up by more than 30 pts. If he kept Kobe in it might showed that Phil was trying to run up the score.

How about Kobe's current string of four 45+ point games? He's going for his 5th tonight against Portland, and if he does get it, he will have been the only other player aside from Wilt The Stilt to have done such.

Um I don't think so, he's already the first player to have 45+ for 4 games.

Not true. He's apart of the elite trio of players who have done such. Aside from himself, only Wilt Chamberlain and Elgin Baylor have done such.

Wow Kobe scores 81 pts against the Raptors. He has now scored the second most points in a game in the history of the NBA.

Kobe reminded me of Jordan back in the good ol' days.

Google Video is wonderful.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...013166933332&q

You can rewatch the entire Lakers game (high quality video) for only $3.95.
