Kerry-Edwards 2004 (E-Mails)

I signed up for the newsletter at JohnKerry.com a months ago and they send me the newsletter frequently, informing me of announcements, upcoming events, news, and other "good" news. I should have posted the previous e-mails. It is deleted now.

As I mentioned in my last e-mail, there are several ways you can volunteer and make a difference in this crucial election. Today, I am asking you to sign up to volunteer at your local California Democratic Party headquarters.

Please sign up now by clicking here. For more information, call (213) 239-8730.

If every Democrat in California talks to 200 Democratic voters before Election Day we will make a huge difference in electing John Kerry, John Edwards and Democrats down the ticket.

You can do this with one weekend of walking door-to-door and one evening calling from a phonebank. In an office near you, you can join a phonebank or a neighborhood canvass. And if you recruit five additional people to sign up, you will do that much more to ensure Democrats turn out on Election Day.

Thank you for your dedication,

Sky Gallegos,
California State Director

Dear KayCee,

Make a contribution to the Democratic Party today and it will be matched dollar for dollar by the Countdown to Victory Matching Fund.
Contribute to the Democratic Party

With some people already casting their ballots, the election of 2004 is now underway, and nothing less than the future of our country is at stake. This is the moment for every Democrat to look in the mirror and ask: "What more can I do to help?"

Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of a special group of Democratic donors, every dollar you donate today, to the kickoff of our Countdown to Victory Matching Fund, will be matched, doubling the impact of your Countdown to Victory donation.

https://www.democrats.org/support/kerry.html

With so much on the line, and with so little time remaining, I couldn't let a critical moment like this pass without personally calling on you to act before it is too late. I know how hard you're working, how much you've already given of yourself. But we've got to dig even deeper between now and November 2.

These closing days of the campaign are exciting, no doubt about it. But with so much riding on the outcome of this election, we need to make sure our energy translates into effective action. Every one of us has a chance to play a vital role in deciding who wins.

So please donate now and double the impact of your contribution.

https://www.democrats.org/support/kerry.html

We must leave no stone unturned between now and the moment the last poll closes on November 2. The Republicans are pouring millions of dollars into baseless attacks against John Kerry and the Democrats because they know that's the only way they can win. Don't let them get away with it.

John Kerry, John Edwards, and other Democrats locked in tough races are pulling out all the stops. They're driving toward victory -- but they need your help. We've got two weeks to go and not a minute to waste. Your immediate contribution can help fund final media buys, voter contact, and GOTV operations. These are the efforts that are going to win this election, and we cannot do it without your support.

Let's go for it. America's future is on the ballot this year. Let's use these final days of the campaign to win the victory that is within our grasp, and secure the kind of future we want for our children. I'm counting on you.

Sincerely,

Bill Clinton

Dear KayCee,

On Monday, I wrote to you about how your support is changing the dynamics of this election in a very tangible way. Your response to last week's e-mails gave us the resources to go for it in Colorado and we have already started expanding operations there.

As Bill Clinton told you yesterday, a group of Democratic Party supporters is excited about the impact you are having and has established a special $5,370,000 Countdown to Victory Matching Fund. That's $10,000 for each of the 537 votes by which we "lost" Florida in 2000.

They will match -- dollar for dollar -- every contribution made to the Democratic Party before midnight tonight.

https://www.democrats.org/support/kerry.html

Republicans always use their fundraising advantage to launch an overwhelming, last-minute offensive in battleground states like Florida. In 2000 we hoped that we would have half of what they had for the closing days of the campaign.

This year things are different. This year, we're not just settling for putting up a good fight. This year, we are going to do everything it takes to go toe-to-toe with the Republican smear machine.

What does that mean?

The Democratic Party is running the largest, most ambitious field program in history. We are matching the Republicans dollar for dollar and ad for ad on the airwaves. We are not letting a single Republican attack go unchallenged.

This is the most important two weeks that we will ever face in American politics. Let's pull out all the stops. Remember, every dollar you contribute today will be matched.

Thank you,
Michael Whouley
General Election Strategist

Dear KayCee,

Make a contribution to the Democratic Party today and it will be matched dollar for dollar by the Countdown to Victory Matching Fund.

Contribute to the Democratic Party

Yesterday I sent you an important message about our Countdown to Victory Matching Fund. Contributions have been pouring in, and I am confident that we are going to maximize this matching gift opportunity. You still have time to double the impact of your contribution.

https://www.democrats.org/support/kerry.html

For a long time now, you and I have worked together to help fulfill America's promise. And I have turned to you often to ask for your help in advancing the values and vision we share.

We are in the final two weeks of this campaign and the outcome is in our hands. It's a dramatic, decisive moment that will set America's course for years, perhaps decades, to come. That's why I am urging you to do everything you can possibly do to support John Kerry, John Edwards and other Democratic candidates.

If you contribute right now, in the final hours of the Countdown to Victory Match, your gift will be worth double, helping the Democratic Party twice as much. I'm counting on you.

Thank you,
Bill Clinton

He signed up for their newsletter, so it isn't really spam. However it does seem to be the same letter written four different ways. Bottom line is, "Please give us money!"

Exactly. Wait, there is more:

Dear KayCee,
For months, thousands of Californian grassroots activists have been traveling and phoning into battleground states across the country to reach out to voters. Now we have come to the final push.

Sign up today to join a road trip to Oregon, Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado, or Arizona. Or if you are able, fly to Wisconsin, Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, or Florida. Volunteers like you are phoning, canvassing, attending rallies, or working early vote sites in all of these states to help bring victory to John Kerry, John Edwards, and Democrats down the ticket.

Click on the link below, and tell us the dates that you can either travel to a battleground state or volunteer in California. We'll connect you with a Democratic National Committee (DNC) coordinator or organizer in your area.

http://www.johnkerry.com/signup/states_ca_vol.php

If you're unable to travel, then help prevent the Florida 2000 debacle from happening here in California. Go to the California Democratic Party's website and sign up for Promote and Protect The Vote (P2TV). P2TV will train volunteers to troubleshoot at polling places, and then assign them to a poll in their neighborhood. So sign up today to be trained and to work Election Day.

Once again, thank you for your dedication. We can win this race, but we can't do it without volunteers like you.

Best wishes,

Sky Gallegos,
California State Director

Dear KayCee,

This morning, The New York Times published a story that offers further proof of how the Bush administration's incompetence and arrogance has endangered the lives of our troops and the American people.

Even before invading Iraq, the Bush administration knew that a huge facility, called Al Qaqaa, contained nearly 380 tons of deadly explosives. Despite the fact that they knew exactly where this facility was and what was there, they took no action to secure or protect the site. Due to the stunning incompetence of the Bush administration and their incomprehensible failure to plan, these explosives have disappeared.

Let me put this in perspective -- the bomb that took down Pan Am Flight 103 over Scotland used less than one pound of this same explosive. There were 760,000 pounds at Al Qaqaa.

You can read the article by visiting:

http://www.johnkerry.com/pressroom/news/news_2004_1025.html

Our troops are the best-trained and best-led forces in the world, and they have been doing their job honorably and bravely. The problem is the commander in chief has not being doing his. George Bush refuses to recognize his failures in Iraq, so he can't fix them and is doomed to repeat them.

Thank you,

Joe Lockhart
Senior Advisor
P.S.
Use our online volunteer center to talk to your local media outlets about this story:

http://volunteer.johnkerry. com/speakout/

After being warned about the danger of major stockpiles of explosives in Iraq, this administration failed to guard those stockpiles. This is one of the great blunders of the Bush policy in Iraq. The administration has several key questions to answer:

1. Why did the administration ignore warnings from the IAEA to secure the nearly 380 tons of explosives in Iraq?

2. Did President Bush's failure to listen to General Shinseki and others about the troop levels that would be needed to secure Iraq after the initial military operations contribute to the military's inability to secure the site?

3. How many terrorist bombings in Iraq, Egypt or elsewhere have been carried out using HMX, RDX or PETN explosives since 2002?

4. Who knew what, when? When was the civilian leadership at the Pentagon told about the missing explosives? When did Secretary Rumsfeld learn that the explosives had gone missing? When was the president's National Security Council informed? When was national security advisor Condoleezza Rice briefed on this? When was the president told?

5. What is the chronology of action taken by the Bush administration after being informed that the explosives had gone missing?

6. Has the site been inspected recently?

7. Why did the Bush administration deny the IAEA's request to go back into Iraq to verify the status of the stockpile?

8. What action did Paul Bremer take after reportedly being warned in May 2004 that the explosives had gone missing?

9. In addition to the missing explosives and reports of machine tools that can be used for nuclear and non nuclear purposes, what other sites in Iraq with dangerous material were not adequately protected and subsequently looted?

10. Is there an estimate for the total amount of munitions, weapons and explosives that have gone missing in Iraq?

Not to lessen the importance of this news, but how do you pronounce "Al Qaqaa"? It's not like kaka, is it? As in the Bush administration is full of it?

Yes and yes.

Dear KayCee,

Last week, Bill Clinton returned to the campaign arena with two emails to you. Today, he joined with John Kerry in Philadelphia and electrified a huge crowd of more than 100,000 people. I thought that his words today captured the spirit of this campaign and I wanted to share some of them with you:

"In the closing days of this campaign, John Kerry is going on being John Kerry -- talking about his hopes for America; his plans for America; his commitment to our security and our prosperity. Now, one of Clinton's laws of politics is this, if one candidate's trying to scare you, and the other one is trying to get you to think, if one candidate is appealing to your fears and the other one is appealing to your hopes, you better vote for the person who wants you to think and hope. That's the best. My fellow Americans, we can do better. And in eight days we're going to do better, with President John Kerry."

As we head into this final week of the campaign, the excitement is palpable. The crowds at rallies are growing exponentially, and by the time John Kerry or John Edwards take the stage, you can barely hear yourself think. I have seen a lot of campaigns, and a lot of big crowds, but I have never seen the intensity that is now on display.

The polls are tight, but George Bush is on the ropes. He can't break 50% in any poll and this is very bad news for his campaign. That is a critical threshold for an incumbent president, because undecided voters tend to break for the challenger in the final days. His campaign is becoming increasing desperate, while we remain optimistic.

We are feeling really good about where we are in this race. However, we still have our work cut out for us. All of us on staff are going to be working day and night until Election Day. If you can just commit yourself to volunteering a few more hours or contributing a few more dollars, together we can win this.

Attend a volunteer event:
http://www.johnkerry.com/events

Contribute to the Democratic Party:
https://www.democrats.org/support/kerry.html
Keep fighting,

Joe Lockhart
Senior Advisor
P.S. You will hear more about this starting tomorrow, but Friday is the last day that you can make an online contribution to the Democratic Party that will directly impact the election.

Make a contribution to the Democratic Party before the final deadline on Friday. The money you contribute by this deadline will determine how many voters get to the polls, and that will decide who wins this election.

Contribute to the Democratic Party

Dear KayCee,

Working together, you and the rest of our supporters have broken every record in Democratic politics -- contributed more money, made more phone calls and knocked on more doors than ever before.

Now we have one last thing to do -- one last record to set. The election is exactly one week away and on that day we must conduct the largest get out the vote effort in history. Today I ask you to offer your support one last time. Friday is the Democratic Party's final fundraising deadline of the campaign. The money you contribute by this deadline will determine how many voters get to the polls, and that will decide who wins this election.

Over the past several months, thanks to your support, the Democratic Party has built the most ambitious field operation in history. We have hundreds of paid staffers and hundreds of thousands of volunteers in place and we are poised to reach out to millions of voters.

In battleground states like Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida, we have more support than George Bush among potential voters. But we have to turn those potential voters into actual votes.

During this campaign, if there is one group of people I know I can depend on it is you. At every deadline you were there; each time John Kerry was under fire, you fired back; and now we are coming to the end and I know you will be by our side during this final fundraising effort.

John Kerry, John Edwards, and other Democrats need you to make a contribution before the final deadline.

Thank you again for all that you do,

Mary Beth Cahill
Campaign Manager

Dear KayCee,

In less than one week, America will conduct what political pundits like to call "the only poll that matters." But, as Election Day fast approaches, polls give us a clear sense of our main tasks in the final days of this campaign.

We all know the bottom line. This is a remarkably close election -- both nationally and in one battleground state after another. There is little question that our get-out-the-vote efforts will decide whether John Kerry or George W. Bush leads America for the next four years.

Friday is the last day for you to contribute online to help fund these make or break efforts. The get-out-the-vote program must be fully funded by Friday. So please make a contribution to the Democratic Party today.

It is my responsibility to analyze polling data for the campaign. Because of the special role that you have played in this campaign, I want to take this opportunity to share some observations:

* George Bush appears to have hit a ceiling of support at 47-48%. During the past several weeks, he has tried to break through this ceiling by attacking John Kerry. This strategy has failed, and he is running up against the clock. An incumbent president who cannot break through the 50% barrier is going to find it very difficult to win reelection.

* Young voters are overwhelmingly supporting John Kerry and are one of his strongest voting blocks. This year millions of new young Americans have registered to vote, and their turnout on Election Day will be one of the deciding factors.

* Almost every poll, public and private, has John Kerry doing even better in the key battleground states than in the national horserace.

This election is going to come down to the wire. Turnout on Election Day is going to decide this election. We need to make sure that the Democratic Party has the resources necessary to mobilize every voter in battleground states. Again, every piece of polling data that I have seen indicates that this effort will decide this election.

I know that you are told repeatedly, "you can make the difference." Every day I analyze polling data and I can assure that is not just a line. This year everything that each one of us does and gives in the next six days will make all the difference. Let's make history.

Thank you,
Mark Mellman

Dear KayCee,

What kind of country do we want to wake up to on
November 3?

That's the question each of us must ask ourselves as we enter the final 36 hours of the most important fundraising drive in Democratic Party history.

It is hard to imagine America making a choice that could matter more than this one -- not just because the contest is so close, but because the differences between the candidates are so stark. Make no mistake about it, four more years of George W. Bush in the White House would spell disaster on many of the issues that you and I care about the most.

That's why, whatever issues you care about, you must have one overriding priority right now -- helping win powerful, persuasive victories for John Kerry and other Democratic candidates five days from now.

Our final fundraising deadline of the campaign is tomorrow night:
If you're concerned about making America stronger and more respected in the world, we need you to step forward now. If you believe that turning a blind eye to the mistakes President Bush has made will only deepen our dilemma in Iraq, we need you to step forward now.

If you think that President Bush's obsession with tax cuts for the wealthy is risking our economic future, we need you to step forward now. If you know we can do better creating jobs and solving America's health care problems, we need you to step forward now.

If you want to protect the future of Social Security, we need you to step forward now. If you want to safeguard the balance and integrity of the Supreme Court, we need you to step forward now. If you realize that four more years of Bush's environmental assaults will devastate America's natural resources, we need you to step forward now.

Here's the reality. Whatever issues you care about, whichever concerns are closest to your heart, the single most important step you can take right now is helping John Kerry and other Democratic candidates win on November 2. Let's not wake up on November 3 realizing that you could have made all the difference in the world.

Thank you,
John Edwards

Dear KayCee,

As we move into the final days of this campaign, I am working every hour to reach out to undecided voters and energize our base in battleground states. However, I feel it is important to take a few minutes to write to you.

There is really no way I can adequately thank you for all you have done. You and our entire online community have worked wonders throughout this election. Each day, when Mary Beth updates me on activities around the country, your incredible efforts are always one of the highlights.

You and I began this campaign pledging to meet every challenge and overcome every obstacle on our way to victory on November 2. I leave it to you to judge whether I have lived up to my end of that bargain. But I am sure about this -- you have lived up to yours.

As you know, our deadline to fund critical get-out-the-vote operations is tonight at midnight. That is the last point -- just hours away -- at which you can make an online contribution that can be spent by Election Day. Believe me, if I did not think it could make the difference between winning and losing, I would not be turning to you one final time.

Please contribute to the Democratic Party before tonight's final deadline:

Over the many months of this campaign, we have relied on our millions of grassroots supporters. At every point that we needed help, there was a dedicated group willing to take their turn and act.

Here is what is different about this moment -- this is the final day we will ask for your donations online and the final day your contributions can be used to fund vital get-out-the-vote efforts. Today is no one's turn to rest and everyone's turn to act.

The outcome of this election -- and the direction of our country for years to come -- is on the line. Across the country we are locked in tough, down-to-the-wire races. I am counting on you to act and trusting you to understand that, at this critical juncture, no one can take your place. Let us dig deep and let us carry our values to victory.

Thank you so much for standing with me. I will never forget what you have done.

John Kerry

Dear KayCee,

Tonight at midnight is the final deadline to fund Election Day activities. With a race as tight as this one, every single donation will make a difference.

The deadline is just hours away.

The money you give now translates directly into votes on Election Day, and we are just $500,000 away from our goal. It has never been more urgent for you to give than at this moment.

Earlier today, John Kerry told you how he and I discuss your efforts each time I update him on campaign activities. Watching what you have accomplished during this race has been a real source of excitement and inspiration. People like you changed the dynamics of this race in a truly historic way.

Never before has a campaign manager been able to communicate with so many supporters on an almost daily basis. It has been a great honor to share this experience with you.

We are now just days away from the end of this campaign and just hours away from our fundraising deadline. I would not ask you to act this final time if it was not critical. However, I know that if we can turn potential voters into actual votes on Election Day, we will win. It is as simple as that.

Please contribute to the Democratic Party before tonight's deadline:

Again, thank you so much for all that you have done during this campaign.

Mary Beth Cahill
Campaign Manager

Dear KayCee,

Thank you for your many months of hard work on behalf of John Kerry, John Edwards, and Democrats down the ticket.

Now that we're in the home stretch, we're doing everything we can to ensure that every single eligible voter goes to the polls on Tuesday. We want to break all voter-turnout records, so Democratic supporters are hosting Get Out The Vote (GOTV) activities all weekend leading up to Election Day.

There are rallies all across the state featuring Sen. Barbara Boxer and other Democratic superstars, including California Democratic Party Chairman Art Torres, Rep. Juanita Millender-McDonald, Rep. Jane Harman, Treasurer Phil Angelides, Attorney General Bill Lockyer, Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante, Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez, and Councilmember Antonio Villaraigosa. So please join us at one of the events listed below and recruit your friends, family, and colleagues to come, too.

With four days to go, I want to thank you once again for everything you've done for John Kerry, John Edwards, and Democrats down the ticket. Together, we'll make history on November 2.

Best wishes,
Sky Gallegos,
California State Director

Dear KayCee,

We have an urgent request for volunteers to travel to Nevada. On Monday, November 1 and Tuesday, November 2 the Nevada coordinated campaign needs you to come to Las Vegas to help swing the vote and be a part of the largest Get Out The Vote effort in history.

Here's what we need you to do:

* Find a road trip buddy -- or three or four,
* Click below to RSVP to volunteer. You must RSVP, so the Nevada coordinated campaign can best organize their volunteer efforts.
* Make housing arrangements in Las Vegas (unfortunately, nearly all our volunteer housing is filled.)
* Show up in Las Vegas ready to be a part of the most important election of our lifetime.

Canvass in Las Vegas

Laborers Hall, 4201 East Bonanza Rd., Las Vegas, NV 89110

* Monday, November 1
* Election Day, November 2

Painters Union Hall, 1701 Whitney Mesa Drive (off of Mountain Vista St), Henderson, NV 89104

* Monday, November 1
* Election Day, November 2

Plumbers and Pipefitters Hall Local 525, 760 N. Lamb Blvd. (at Halbert Ave), Las Vegas, NV 89110

* Monday, November 1
* Election Day, November 2

UFCW Union Hall, 1201 North Decatur Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89108

* Monday, November 1
* Election Day, November 2

John Kerry, John Edwards, and Democrats down the ticket are leading a grassroots movement united in building a stronger America. Everything is on the line: our jobs, our health care, our role in the world, and the character of our country. You are needed in Las Vegas. With your help, we will set a new direction for America.

Thank you for all that you do,
Josh Ross,
Kerry-Edwards 2004
