| Active Member | Horse Riding Lessons? Hey, it's a stupid question, but does Cal Poly offer any horse-back riding lessons for students and non-students (like friends and family) alike? I know that CPP has horses and everything, and it would seem to me like it'd be a waste NOT to have horse-back riding lessons.... l-a-f |

![]() | I don't believe they have the course. I haven't seen anyone riding those Arabian horses, so I assume they are not trained to be mounted by a rider (if I am not mistaken, wild horses, or domesticated horses not trained for riding will go crazy if being mounted by a human). |

| Cal Poly Guru | No appointments needed. I think the lessons are offered from 9am-3pm (call to confirm). I could have yelled YEEEEEEEeee-HAAAaaaaa, but didn't have the courage. oh and the stables reminded me of campus. You know, the smell ![]()

| Newcomer | what type.... What type of riding are you wanting to learn? I haven't heard of the college offering lessons, but I have a few mares and know of some places that are affordable and have GREAT instructors, depending on if you want to take just general riding lessons, or learn a specific sport. |

![]() | I remember going to Griffith Park in Los Angeles, there is a horse riding place. There are different levels from beginners, intermediate, and to experienced. I went there when I was a kid and I rode the beginners of course. Not sure if it still exists. And you can visit the L.A. Zoo which is pretty near Griffith Park. |

If anyone's interested in getting a ride together or coming by and taking a ride on one of my girls, feel free to PM me. The Norco rivertrails are great to ride in, you just have to watch out for quicksand... there's also a place in San Diego, a bit of a drive, but worth it... it's called Sandy's Rental Stable, and they offer 3 hour beach rides, it's great! Just incase anyone's interested, I thought I'd show off my girls This is Lightningbolt, my 4 year old mare... she's my baby and is absolutely wonderful. I've given pony rides to two year olds on her. ![]() ![]() This is Bunny and behind her is Light's turn out buddy Janie ![]() And Mystic... Lightning's surprise filly, now almost a yearling ![]() | |

| Newcomer | no problem.... Sandy's is awsome. I believe their website is something like http://www.sandysrentalstable.com if that's not it you can type Sandy's rental stable into yahoo and it'll come up... from time to time they put coupons up on their website for anywhere from $5 to $20 off. |
