![]() | Homes burning, people dying, smoke rising... Did Hell break loose? Eleven people have been confirmed dead as of Sunday evening. Estimates of 650 homes have been burnt down. And endless frustration for both firefighters and homeowners. The weather is not the same as it use to be one week ago. My barber told me that he had sore throat and drowsy eyes due to the environment. I should've replied, "We have more important issue to be thinking about." I dislike the thought of breathing the air of Los Angeles, which consist of *35% smoke + 55% car exhaust pollution + 7% other unhealthy chemical, which leaves us with 3% breathable oxygen. Now I am concerned of how the smoke will have an affect on our water (both drinking and nondrinking) and other resources. Hmm...acid rain? ![]() (*=Statistic is not true)

![]() | It really sucked watching people attempt to stop the fire on their backyard with a hose. Of course, the blaze was too powerful and the households had to leave their house. If your house was about to burn down within five minutes, what would you take with you out from your house? I would take out my family photos, my car keys and my pc (without monitor, mouse, etc.) since I have important documents in the harddrive. |

![]() | Poor home owners that have their houses burnt during the fire will lose lots of money even if they have insurance ![]() I think when a houses' value is $350,000, usually $250,000 is the value of the house itself and rest being the land value (it varies). The home fire insurance will only pay for the house portion. They still lose at least 1/4 of the total value even if the house is insured. I think that is why lots of people are determined to stay till the last moment, or planning to "go down with the house" before dragged away by the police and fire dept. |

Sad indeed. We can't fight mother nature. Actually I heard that the one of the firestorm was started by one man intentionally. Why would anybody want to do such a crime. | |

![]() | Well, one man was lost during his hiking session and he used a torch light to be rescued. And immediately, nearby trees caught on fire from the torch light. That man will probably stay in jail for a long time. The other person done it intentionally. Not sure what his intention was (pyromania?).
