![]() | What did you guys think of the movie? I just think it's a sad reality, and a scary one too, that these days most Americans have to rely on a movie to get their basic information about their own president. If this is one of the venues people use to dissiminate important information about our public officials, then what does that say about the media? What does that say about our freedom of the press, of speech? Back in the 1960s, most war protesters didn't need a filmmaker to make movies about the war so he/she could tell them what was going on in Vietnam. Most people just turned on their TVs and saw what was really happening. I believe that the freedom, to speak our minds and tell the truth, we once had is gone now. The FCC is pressing harder and harder on radio stations who dare criticize the president, cable companies who regulate broadcasted news and stories that are covered in Iraq, and newspapers who edit crucial information for fear of potential losses. With the passing of the Patriot Act most of us have been and will be stripped from our rights as things get worse in this "war with terrorism." I personally do not understand how Bush can stand so confident in his office thinking that the polls will determine his future. The won't. Hopefully American voters won't have to pay the price of ignorance, which is another four years of bloodshed. Lets just hope Kerry pulls it off strong these next couple of months. |

| Newcomer | Good point. I did find the information very interesting though and I don't know where I could read something that said it so bluntly and concisely. I thought it was a very good movie overall. The Patriot Act is a joke. How in the world can we say that we live in a free country when the government has granted itself complete access to every citizen's personal private life. With leaders like Bush, the US will be fascist in a blink of an eye. In terms of foreign policy though, Bush is really not that much worse than other recent presidents...after all Clinton was bombing Iraq all through his presidency...so when did Desert Storm end? We need a president who is interested in taking care of the US's domestic issues rather than the economic expansion of the US on foreign soil. It just doesn't make sense to add external factors to something that already has complex, urgent problems. My two cents...
