exercise places

Hi, I will be a new student at Cal Poly Pomona this fall. I saw that there is an exericse place (but it is only for residents) and there is a fitness center in the Bronco Center ($15 a month). Since I will be living off campus, I was wondering is there another gym on campus? Some schools have a fieldhouse/gym that is free for all students.

Thanks,

Hello! ^-^

Actually... the one for residents kinda sucks. I actually go to the Bronco Fitness Center and I like it. I think it's quite a good deal for $15 a month. The place is pretty good sized (larger then the one for residents). You don't have to pay any activation fees, and you can take the classes that they offer for free. Sometimes they also have gym programs - like last week they had a contest on who could do hold the longest weighted down squat and the winner would win a grab bag of stuff.

i'm actually not so sure about a fieldhouse/gym but... considering the number of people who actually go to the Bronco Fitness Center - i have a feeling that there isn't one.

i hope this helps... $15 may sound much - but compared to other places... it's quite a good deal.

No doubt. $15 bucks a month with no activation fee, is a heck of a deal. Compare it to your local gym (24hourfitness or ballys) and you got yourself a bargain.
The bronco fitness center has nice bathrooms with clean shower rooms.

lilusako, tell us more about the girls room ;P

lwong81, if I were you, I'd just walk in and start using their equipment. What's the worst that could happen...they ask you to leave. ^_^

You need a person with a entry key to access the resident gym. Just take a buddy or go and knock at the door and hopefully somebody will open the door for you.

There is a two month minimum membership at the bronco fitness center. The $15 dollar fee is a bargain. No starting fee or tax. Not only do you get a great workout, it is good for your lifestyle and will help your body prepare for the future. The reason why I started working out was that my friend told me that young adults need to build calcium mass for strong bones. At a certain age (50 to 60), the body starts consuming all the calcium that has been stored in the bones/skeleton (the bones act as a reservoir for calcium). Now you know why the health administration advertise "Milk, it does a body good" commercials often on magazine and television. The longer and harder you worked out at a young age, the longer your calcium and energy storage will last during your senior age. And for those that did not work out, you may heard of osteoporosis and hypertension.

Found great info at http://www.betterhealth.vic .gov.au/bhcv2/bhcarticles.nsf/pages/Calcium?OpenDocument
