Lightbulb Be cautious when driving this month

I recently received an e-mail from a colleague:

More than one person (lawyer, contracter, and etc.) has informed me to take
extra precaution when driving especially in heavy Asian occupancy (Monterey
Park, Rowland Heights, Acadia, etc.). Due to the shortfall of state revenue
and car registration, city police are on the outlook for small traffic
infractions. They are happy to give out tickets with multiple counts.
California needs to get the money someplace. Arnold sort of 'nodded' for the
cops to go ahead with this 'fund raising' event.

On Sunday (11/30) alone, the Garfield and Valley intersection in Monterey
Park/Alhambra was the site of 120+ traffic tickets. One case, a Chinese girl
received a ticket for $870 for stopping cross the white line. (Note: passing
this white line in a driving test will fail you automatically.) She stopped
at the intersection due to heavy traffic. She realized that she could not go
when the light turned red, she tried to backup but could not. Her front
wheels were barely touching the white line. A motorcycle cop pulled her over
and wrote her a ticket, which stated the following:

1. Ignoring a red traffic signal
2. Blocking the intersection
3. Not yielding to pedestrians
4. Attempting to drive in the wrong direction

These five were a major violation this month:
1. Jay walking
2. Crossing double yellow when the left lane is backed-up. (major violation
past couple weeks)
3. Crossing double yellows when driving in car pool.
4. Taking off before pedestrians completely set foot onto the side walk.
(major violation past couple weeks)
5. Speed limit

I'm poor now =[. No presents for friends and no snowboarding =[. Anyways,
take care and have a merry Christmas.

Thanks for the warning.

I don't mind officers giving out ticket for speeding or being real strict against drunken idiots but I think that was over the line. Hope everyone had a ticketless holidays.

You won't believe how many cops I saw on Tuesday. Was there a lot of cops out on Christmas Eve?

Do you mean New Year's Eve? I didn't get a chance to drive around much on that day but I didn't see a single police vehicle. Probably they were guarding the locations where a lot of pedestrians gathered for the 2004 countdown.
