| Fire-breather | Can't Christmas wait until December? I was walking to the store and already there's an annoying bell-ringer with a red bucket standing outside the post office. And then inside the store.... I hear Christmas music! Couldn't they at least wait until Thanksgiving is over??

| GCP.com Admin | Yeah. Businesses are always crazy like that trying to get you buy more and then some. I think it's something like 50% of all retail dollar purchases are spent on/for christmas. So... they have good reason... its their only truly good time ![]() Best christmas deals are always towards the end of christmas while stores try to clear out overstocked items they antipiated would be hits... the more they sell early, the more cash they make. I agree though, it's a little weird how they push us to do christmas early... just shows how much of our society revolves around business. |

![]() | The sales actually do kinda bother me --- why not just make it easier on the world, take a 10% markup (instead of 50%+) over the cost all year long. That way it doesn't seem like we're getting screwed on pricing for the other 364 days. I walked into mervyn's on Sunday. Nearly EVERY rack in the store was marked "sale". At some point, doesn't it just become the normal price? |

| Fire-breather | Hey I was in a Mervyn's yesterday too! Those sale prices weren't all that reasonable to me, and the styles were for the most part very preppy and conservative. At least in the women's section. I ended up going to TJ Max and found much better stuff for much better prices. And they don't have those stupid sales. Their stuff is regularly that price.
