| Fire-breather | Cal Poly Pride - Still the same? When I was a student there, I just never saw much pride. My UCLA friends were all "Bruins Rule, yeah!" and my USC friends were all "Go Trojans, kick ass!" and then here were my CPP friends making up school slogans like, "Cal Poly Pomona, where we go to school." It was funny, yet it really showed how we thought of our university. It was just a place where we got our education, and we couldn't wait to get out. It wasn't a bad place, but I don't think it was really anyone's first choice. Has it gotten any better?

| Newcomer | haha yah, I swear I didn't even know what our school colors were til my junior year... one day I looked up at the CP sign and saw Green and Yellow, and wondered what it represented this month, cuz you know they change the colors all the time. My friend told me those are the school colors, and I replied, "Our school have colors?" So uhm, "Go Broncos?" |

| Fire-breather | Yeah, green and yellow. Maybe if they chose a not-so-bright green it would look better. But most banners I saw had some limey green color to it. Anyway, I think most of the rah-rah school spirited people probably didn't even apply to Cal Poly because, [gasp] no big sports teams here! That was always fine by me though, I could care less about sports.

![]() | Man, those Bruins and Trojan students are enthusiastic about everything related to their campus. They look out for one another, off and on-campus. Now that's college pride. I did notice several bumper stickers on the campus parking lot. Some pride?

| Fire-breather | I work in L.A. and man you see UCLA and USC alumni license plate frames EVERYWHERE! However I have to make a case for Cal Poly... gotta show a little bit of alumni pride, y'know? So here goes... My theory is that both UCLA and USC are big-name schools. A lot of people from all over the place live there temporarily while they get their education. This means a much higher percentage of students live on campus. The university has a captive audience here. For lack of anything to do they attend school events (a lot of students don't have cars). That's where they brainwash you! ![]() CPP is pretty much a commuter school. I personally lived in the dorms, but the vast majority of students lived off-campus, outside of university apartments. These people are not going to be willing to drive all the way from who-knows-where to attend some event. So they escape the brainwashing. I know my theory is full of holes, but hey, I'm not a scientist. It's like ak said, you don't have to be proud of your school, but DO be proud of your education!

| Fire-breather | I'm still bitter about that. My best friend and I both applied to UCLA. I had the higher GPA and similar SAT scores, I was involved as many school activities as she was. She got in. I didn't. What the hell happened?? I don't know. They never tell you why you get to be a reject and your friend gets in. It might be because I was going in with an Undeclared major and they wanted more people who knew where they were going in life. That sucks. I didn't know what I wanted to do until AFTER I graduated!! ![]() Crap. Now I'm depressed. ![]()

I don't know what it was. Maybe some majors are more impacted than others. Maybe she wrote a better essay. Who knows. All I know is that I had a nice little bonfire with my rejections letters.

![]() | Choosing 'Undeclared' as your major might've been a deduction during the admission process. Doesn't matter for you though. I assume you landed yourself a satisfying job and have a great career after graduating from Cal Poly Pomona. ![]()

Meanwhile any Cal Poly students at the game just stand around and laugh. Whose the smart one I ask?
