Cal Poly Car Meet?

Hey guys...are any of you interested in holding a huge car meet sometime in the month of November? I think it would be sweet gather car freaks and show off the modded rides...

I'd appreciate it if I could get help promoting this GTG...I would need help from at least 3 groups of people...one for German cars (MBZ, BMW, etc), Japanese cars (Honda, Toyota, etc), and American cars (Ford, Chevy, etc)...

I'm total MBZ and German car fanatic and it would be a quite a spectacular site having a massive group of cars gathered in one location...

Let me know what you think...

This would be a great idea! I often see lots of great looking cars with neat modifications on campus. It would be nice to gather all of them around.

I think one of the great ways to promote your event is to contact the ASI Student Union and have them sponsor you. Because if ASI is in, they should be able to allocate some spaces to make it possible. Posting fliers and road side signs needs school approval too, but I am not sure what the procedures are.

I'll go check out the campus meet although I don't have a pretty car in the first place.

Would be nice to have the meet on the weekdays but impossible because the parking lot can't accomodate a spot for just the meet. I think November is too early man. Make it like next year because winter is not a great season for an outside meet, I think.

ASI should be capable to host night time events like last years' Battle of the DJs. Parking spaces should be available at late afternoon / night time to support the car show.

Yea that's what I was thinking as well...UCI recently had a car meet (last Wed.)...it was held at 8 pm and over 200 cars showed up...pretty bad@$$!

I was thinking of having the meet on Friday late afternoon to early evening in the back F-lot (F10 etc)...that lot is pretty empty after 4 pm...

200 cars. Cal Poly can do better!

I also think November is early for such an event unless you want a small outcome. You would want to plan months ahead for an event - especially a car meet. And as winter approaches, you need to keep in mind of the weather condition. Makes a huge difference between a cloudy day and a sunny day for a car meet.

If you do get help from ASI and campus flyers, it will be easy to attract hundreds of car enthusiast at Cal Poly. Plan ahead of what refreshment (if any) to serve everyone, the location of where the cars will be parked for pictures, who will be the coordinators, is the campus police be present, and etc.

Good luck with the car meet and if you need help, I could lend a hand.

If you do get the event setup, I'll be sure to stop by with my friends.
Should have like a contest like real autoshows.

Make only two flyers for the Cal Poly Car Club. Then you would need to take the flyers to the Office of Student Life (Building 26) and get a stamp of approval to post around campus. They only stamp one flyer so you will need to make photocopies of the stamped flyer.
