Need Help with Avatar

If I wanted to create an avatar for my profile, how would I do that per say?How do I select an avatar and upload it so that whenever I created a new post or replied to a thread it would appear under my name. I tried yesterday to see if I could do it, but it did not work. Can anyone give me proper directions to do this? Also, can all members create avatars or does it only apply to moderators and administrators? Thanks for your help. I greatly appreciate it.

Simple. Click on User CP --> Edit Avatar (Under Settings & Options) --> Select Upload an Avatar From Your Computer: and browse your harddrive to choose your avatar.
