Random Cards - How To Reduce Time Reordering Cards

You have six people sitting around a small desk, including yourself.
You are given a stack of colored cards [ GREEN, YELLOW, BLUE, RED, and GRAY ]in random order.

Once the procter gives the group the random cards, the students need to put the randomized cards into order by colors and put a paper clip in each complete set of cards.

The group is timed once the card is provided. The object of the mini-project is to see how quick the group finished the set in seconds. The challenge is, how to assign tasks to each member to expedite the reorderings of the colored cards.

Any suggestions?

personally I'd try and take control

I'd tell 1 person to throw the cards on the table in a pile and have the same person in charge of handing out paper clips

then I'd get the remaining 5 people to stack the cards by color, one person grey another yellow etc.

I think it would be better for the 6th person to stay out of the stacking because they would probably just get in the way or slow it down. Better that they wait for someone to be done stacking and hand them the paperclip.

That is just me though.

Oh and PS. If somebody finishes before everyone else they can help with the job of handing out paperclips or clipping the cards together for people. Keeping them out of trying to stack the cards.
