| UCs do practice Affirmative Action, however many would be surprised to learn that the Asian and Caucasian students are being placed at the same level compare to Hispanic and African Americans for Affirmative Action supplementary points (it is added to the total point scale).
It is a known fact that Asian students dominate the 4.0 GPA scale ranking in quite alot of the SoCal highschools (in the highschool where I graduated, 7 out of 10 4.0 / 4.0+ honor students were Asian). Grades and getting into UC (yes getting into UC, not just any other universities) would often be the only thing acceptable to their parents (to see what happens when one fails to meet expectations, the gunshot from the engineering lab is the answer). |
