Hey that sounds like me! I enjoyed certain things, but didn't think I would actually want to major in any of them. I'm a good writer, but I don't think I could stand to write all those essays analyzing boring books written by dead authors, so majoring in English was out. I was intrigued by computers, but the math requirements scared me away. I am like a math retard. I could pass the classes, but with GREAT effort and a lot of stress.

But anyway, your dad gave some very good advice. Find something you don't hate. Something that you will be able to stand going in-depth and finishing an entire major. The more indecisive you are, the more generic a major you should choose. That's probably why a lot of students major in Business. It's very generic, but after you graduate it's applicable to many fields. Most employers don't really care much about what you majored in anyway. They just want you to have a degree (it proves you can accomplish what you start) and they'll train you with the stuff they want you to know.

Worry about your career later. You'll eventually discover something you enjoy a lot, and at that point you can pursue your passion and turn it into a career.
