If so, it is defective. I have tested the SMTP service with Thunderbird and Outlook Express. In both cases the SMTP service only worked when using no login and password.
Have you tested the SMTP service yourself or are you just referencing the old email guide that Cal Poly posted online? The new guide can be located
here.
