odatguy is an unknown quantity at this point
Coptic refers to early Christianity.
The texts we are talking about are The Gospel of Thomas, The Gospel of Q, The Dead Sea Scrolls, and the Nag Hammadi Library. This includes books that later were to become the New Testament. Most of these books were written before 100-200 AD. And the New Testament was not put together by the Ecumenical Council of the Catholic Church until about 500 AD. Coptics were from areas in the mediterranean near Greece and Egypt. Today there is Coptic Christianity, which is another story entirely. In summary, this discussion board could be about the origins of the religion that we know today as Christianity.
