While staff writers and guest writers never got paid for their work (they got course credit or resume material), staff editors were paid a very modest sum for their trouble, which could amount to about 30 hours a week of work in the office (not counting interviewing, research, etc.) But because of the current money troubles, the staff is entirely unpaid.
The trouble with publishing a newspaper just once a month is that advertisers are not interested in getting their message out so infrequently. That's the same trouble with bi-weekly. The Poly Post could probably considerably expand their ad revenues if they were to publish daily, but of course that would require more production money than it was worth. It's a catch 22. |
