Exclamation Change from Student ID to BroncoNumber

All Cal Poly Pomona students will be receiving or have received a letter from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.

Dear [Your Name]:

I would like to share three very important changes taking place at Cal Poly Pomona. These changes will impact the way you access information and services on campus, and I strongly encourage you to carefully review this information.

Effective April 26th: Change from Student ID to BroncoNumber
To ensure the confidentiality of student records, unique BroncoNumbers have been assigned to replace current Student IDs (usually Social Security Numbers) as the primary identifiers for students. Since many of the services available with the BroncoNumber/Password are not effective until April 26th, you must continue to use your current Student ID on the web and through Voice Response to register for spring 2004 or complete any other campus-related business. Beginning April 26th, you must use your newly assigned BroncoNumber and Password listed above to register for summer 2004 and to complete any campus-related business. The one exception is Voice Reponse which will require your new BroncoNumber and your current PIN (rather than the new Password).

You may continue to use your current Bronco Access Card throughout this next year. By spring 2005, all existing Bronco Access Cards will be replaced by cards with the new BroncoNumbers.

Please remember to keep your BroncoNumber and Password confidential at all times to prevent others from accessing your personal and academic information.

Effective Immediately: BroncoDirect
Cal Poly Pomona is also very excited to introduce BroncoDirect, our newly expanded online services for students and the campus community. Your BroncoNumber and Password will provide you access to BroncoDirect, which features several key campus services, including on-line registration beginning with summer 2004.

BroncoDirect services will become available on a rolling basis. Please refer to the enclosed information for the times specific services will be available through BroncoDirect. The BroncoDirect Team is very interested in receiving your comments.

Effective June 21st: E-Mail to Your Cal Poly Pomona E-Mail Account
Beginning summer 2004, the university will be using students' Cal Poly Pomona e-mail accounts as an official method of communication. Students will be responsible for checking their Cal Poly Pomona e-mail account daily for important university information. Additional information will be provided at a later date.

We hope that these new services will become a convenient and useful resource for you.

Sincerely,
Gary Fredericksen
Vice President for Student Affairs
