| 400 is on the upper division level. However, a freshman can take a 300 level course, such as IBM 301 - general ed marketing course for business majors. I remember taking a EWS 410 class with a buddy when I was in my early second year.
I wouldn't recommend a 1st and 2nd year student to take a 400 course and your advisor might not approve it also.
