Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)

Yesterday in my PSY class, a counselor dropped by our class and informed us all of the CAPS (Counseling and Psychological Services) services.

Signs That Suggest A Consultation With CAPS

While each individual experiences and displays emotional and relationship problems in a different way, some common experiences might include:
  • Declining grades and low motivation in completing assignments
  • Frequent absenteeism
  • Low level of energy
  • Sadness and tearfulness
  • Sleeplessness
  • Falling asleep in class
  • No enthusiasm for most things
  • Poor concentration
  • Excessive daydreaming
  • Withdrawn or isolative
  • Preoccupied
  • Overwhelmed or intense and uncommon response to an upsetting event
  • Dependency. For example, the need to be with someone all the time, or the need to have someone else make decisions for you in most matters
  • Frequent binge eating episodes or significant loss of appetite
  • Suicidal thoughts
  • Nervousness and anxiety
  • Restlessness or agitation
  • Exaggerated irritability including undue aggressive behavior towards others
  • Impaired speech
  • Change in personal hygience
  • Bizarre or strange behavior
