| on the two names SLO (1901): The California Polytechnic State University
Pomona (1938): The California State Polytechnic University
in 1966 when the two campuses finally split apart it was decided to change the name of the pomona campus by moving state ahead of poly.
but we like simplicity. and ESPN certainly would never say Texas Agricultural and Mechanical University even though that's the official name.
only in the area of hospitality management is the pomona campus better academically. and the reason is because the north campus does not even have this program.
pomona has some very fine programs, particularly in engineering and architecture, but none as are outstanding as those up north. |
