| Broncos close to four in final minute versus Troy but... ...couldn't quite get over the hump. considering that we shot only 29.8 per cent from the field and 25 per cent from distance this is an amazing testiment to the grit and hustle of the broncos. you guys showed a lot today, and kudos everywhere. we almost filled an entire section of fans, and from the chants you might have thought this was a cal poly home game while the cardinal and gold majority remained silent.
the high points:
1. team defense. ball hawking everywhere. larry gordon had yet another monster game with 8 points, 7 boards and two steals. kevin neveau was unafraid among the trees and hauled down six boards among a much bigger front line of troy.
2. bill forelli perhaps had his best game as a bronco, coming off the bench and shooting three of four and pitching in seven points in limited playing time.
3. the coaching. coach k. clearly seemed to outcoach tim floyd at several key points in the game including his substitution patterns and clock management.
4. neon deon. although prone to taking a few wild shots while trying to create some offense he led all scorers on either team with 17 points and was deadly from the line.
the low points:
1. sadly, billy's shot was not dropping. while he was steady as always he only hit 2 of 8. we needed some of his treys to fall but they rimmed out.
2. donelle could not repeat his awesome performance over in westwood. he never was a factor in this one.
3. the no shows. baby shaq did not dress, nor did melvyn, and rashad remains awaiting ncaa clearance. we get these guys back, look out.
pulido had five points in 29 minutes if you call that a great game, hall. the poly crowd continually yelled at him to stop dribbling and to pass the ball.
i agree with your prediction, lakdod. 20, maybe 21 wins this year assuming everyone is back. these guys showed something today as they did against loyola. now they should be ready for the games to count. |
