Human Resources FALL 2006 Internship Opportunities

Staffing & Recruitment

Department Description:

Staffing & Recruitment is responsible for the initial contact of potential candidates and interview qualified candidates for all open positions. S&R also prepares job requisitions, verify education & past employment, check candidate references and track open positions from start to finish. S&R also oversees the Internship Program for the West Coast. Interns will assist the Staffing & Internship Coordinator, as well as other members of the HR team.


Intern responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assist with MTV Networks’ Internship Program. Pre-screen and interview candidates for the spring’07 internship program, use the internet for research purposes, filing, faxing, organizing and helping with the reception desk when needed.

Anticipated projects:
Screen resumes and conduct interviews for the spring ‘07 internship program. Other projects may arise during the semester.


Special skills / requests:
§ Customer service / phone skills - proficient in MS Word, Excel & Outlook
§ Strong communication / organizational skills
§ This is a highly visible position. Intern will be interacting with all levels of staff. Public speaking skills a plus.

Availability:
2-3 days per week (16 – 30 hours)

Preferred Major(s):
HR Management, Psychology, Business Admin.




Learning & Development

Department Description:
MTV Networks’ Learning and Development supports the professional development of MTV Networks employees through various programs including new employee orientation (Ignition), professional skill and business knowledge workshops (Expeditions), Management development workshops, mentoring (The Huddle) and individual requests.


Intern responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
§ Day to day functions of L&D (including scheduling workshops, confirming participants, drafting communications, coordinating logistics)
§ Data Entry (tracking and evaluation spreadsheets)
§ Material prep/changes (workbooks for workshops)
§ Help plan events


Anticipated projects:
§ Create/Maintain a “BINDER” for Management Toolkit- Materials
§ Create new spreadsheets for spring 2007 tracking
§ Prepare materials for workshops


“Expeditions & Management” Toolkits include:
§ Sign in sheets
§ Evaluations
§ Participant Guides
§ Create folders
§ Create new file system for 2007
§ Place orders for L&D (folders, binders, labels, flip charts, etc)
§ Keep track of what is needed, etc.


Special skills/requests:
Proficient in Excel & Word, good computer skills, good organization skills, able to multi-task, and good communication skills written & verbal.

Availability:
2-3 days per week (16 – 30 hours)

HR, English, Psychology, Business Admin.





Benefits & Compensation

Department Description:

The Benefits & Compensation team provides employees (staff & freelance) with benefits, payroll and other company services. This is a customer service driven team and interacts with all levels of staff. In addition to benefits and payroll, this team provides community outreach and other community services.


Intern responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
§ Filing and organizing freelance management folders
§ Working closely with the Director of Benefits & Compensation on confidential projects


Anticipated projects:
§ Create and maintain a new filing system for freelance management folders


Special skills/requests:
Proficient in Excel & Word, good computer skills, good organization skills, able to multi-task, and good communication skills written & verbal. Professional demeanor required and the ability to work in a confidential manner. An interest in HR / Benefits & Compensation is a plus.

Availability:
2-3 days per week (16 – 30 hours)
