It's a shame then. Their performance in class should really reflect on their knowledge and competency as a college professor. Some of the community college professors I had during summer quarter were surprisingly better, making my core class instructors look like they belong at a high school.
Maybe it is the price we pay as a Cal State student of having our professors care more about their own research or because Cal State students are. I believe professors should be obligated to teach well, to challenge us, and help college students excel. But sadly, it seems many of our professors lost their thrive, their energy and are just doing it as a habitual responsibility like a paid worker bee.
Maybe the Cal Poly Pomona professors have that mentality where they are not performing optimally because they are not getting paid "enough" compared to the UC instructors, so why bother wasting their energy and effort on the Cal State students. That's my beef with some of the past professors.
And the professor evaluation sheet is a joke. Nothing is being done when the overall score is poor. I believe professor receive a certificate and/or an award if they achieve a high overall score. That's great.

Also, many times, they are also hire more for their research. If that was the case, they rather develop the department, instead of developing the students.
