Trader, I grabbed a "Microcomputer Proficiency Test Guide and Information Bulletin (MPT)" booklet.

Here is a part of what the booklet explains:

SAMPLE QUESTIONS

The following lists of test subjects are drawn from the actual tests. These are examles of the sbuject areas on which a student will be tested. A student should be familiar with the multiple ways that tasks from these subjects areas can be executed (i.e. mouse, toolbar, menu, or keyboard), before attempting the module tests.

WORD EXAM:
  • open a document
  • use the document view buttons
  • maximize the Word window
  • maximize the document window
  • view two documents
  • manage multiple document windows
  • display the ruler
  • display the formatting toolbar
  • close a document
  • save a document with a new name
  • save a document with the same name
The list goes on. There is another list for EXCEL EXAM.

Comment: The Computing Resource Center supports the two applications covered in teh Microcomputer Proficiency Test. These products are available for use through the University microcomputer laboratory network. There is no charge for this service. Additionally, many excellent books are available to help you prepare for the MPT. The Cal Poly Bronco Bookstock stocks many of these texts ($100+ ) The Word and Excel applications include interactive tutorials, which are also an excellent source to prepare yourself for the test.

You can pick up "Microcomputer Proficiency Test Guide and Information Bulletin (MPT)" booklet on the Testing Center (pointy building).
