I tried to stay as objective as possible.
Weather:
It's is pretty hot in summer, but pleasant during the fall, winter, spring. Pomona gets hot because of it's inland location, away from the coast.
Places to "chill":
On campus there is the Student Union where there is an arcade, restaurants, gym, etc.
There is not much going on in the city of Pomona (or surrounding for that matter)...
But the good thing is proper Los Angeles (north) and Central/South Orange County (south) is only 30-40 minutes away.
People:
The campus is very diverse. Something like 38% Asian, 30% Hispanic, 29% Caucasian, and 3% African American...
Environment:
The people at school are friendly. You have to realize that it's a "commuter" school so there is not much going on socially on campus such as other campuses like UCSB, etc. Although that is starting to change w/ the addition of the new Suites (higher-end dorms) and extension of the Village Apartments.
Also, the campus itself has come a long way since my Freshman year (Fall 2002). Thank god! hehe...
For example, some of the main campus roads have been fixed/paved. We have new higher-end dorms, new student union, the Japanese Garden, new parking structure being constructed as we type, upcoming re-designed library, and various improvements/beautifications around the campus...
