grad students, how many units?

I'll be starting grad school soon (about time I got off my lazy arse!), and I've already registered for classes. The thing is I only registered for 8 units because I don't know how stressful and rigourous grad clases are, so I just want to test the water, if you will, by taking it easy in my first quarter. I feel a tad bad for taking what I feel is too few of a unit load. I've always taken a full load (12+ units) during my undergrad years, but I'm not so sure about grad school. I work part time and many of the grad classes are in the evenings, so it's not like I can't take a full load. I'm still contemplating adding one more class, but the choices I have are none I really want. I could use it as an elective, but adding one more class I'm afraid may be too much, as I have heard that grad classes are hard, long, and very demanding. Any words of wisdom from grad students here?
