Um, good luck with that switching plan. Chances are VERY slim for a student to change their major to Arch. Trust me, I had that same plan as a youngster. You have a better chance of getting into arch if you go to a community college first, then transfer to CPP.
The entire college of Environmental Design is outstanding. I came from the URP and Landscape Arch programs, and wow, they worked us. But when we graduate, most of the people in those fields are from CPP. SUre there are some great UC;s out there, but none of them will prepare you as well for an environmental design career.
I ask that you seriously think about why you are going to college, and why you picked arch. I found that arch is NOT what I wanted to do. All they focus on are structures. Landscape and Planning both do design as well, but focus more on a community design, and not jsut that one building. If you really want to go to a UC (not sure why, they are more expensive, and you will probably NEVER meet your actual professor) then think about studying something other than Arch.
Take a campus tour, and meet with the arch dept. That would help you a lot.
